Promotion watch (now with Poll)

It's interesting when you say the back 3 have been fantastic because it makes them sound like a settled trio when in reality, it's been anything but. I know we've had injuries to contend with but I was still surprised to find out that over the course of the season, our starting back line has had 19 different combinations using 11 different players, (17 as a back 3 and 2 as a back 4).

 

The back 3, since Christmas has been generally Baldwin, Shepherd and another.
It's the run since Christmas that's put us where we are.
I would say when we look back over the season, we won't talk about Diabate, Sanderson, Benn, Odour and Cook.
It will be Baldwin, Shepherd, Pointon, Sarcevic, Patto and maybe Kav.
Those players that took us from mid table to top 3 in a little over half a season.

 

It has, but there's still been 10 different combinations of the back 3 since Christmas, 5 of which have not included both Baldwin and Shepherd.

I won't forget some of their fans mocking us when Cook did his ACL. It's ironic that it was the spanking we gave them that started them on the downward spiral. Plus their arrogance around New Year, ironically saying we only need 5 or 6 wins, piece of piss shame they could only manage 3 haha.

I was surprised when one or two on here were giving them sympathy, enjoy the queue and enjoy losing to Chesterfield guys. You won't get any from me.

 

I realise I’m probably playing into this guys hands, but I really wish City fans didn’t engage this fool. He baits the club every time and every time City fans come running. He will 100% have us to finish bottom 4 next season even if we have a top 4 budget.

 

I remember queuing all night in the main stand for Burton away tickets. What a long night that was, well worth it though.
1 of my favourite Jimmy Hanson goals in that game.

 

It's nice to now move on from our 'promotion watch' and view some of the play-off's.

So, considering we'll be playing one of these next season, I'm watching the Orient v Stockport match - remember these two clubs are fairly recent L2 rivals and so it's impressive how they've motored on (wonder if we'd be where Orient are now if we'd taken on Wellens instead of Hughes?)

Anyway, just seen the worst case of a given offside goal, since our tragedy in 2017 at Wembley

Not sure about that. Wimbledon setting out for a 0-0. Taking three and a half minutes over every throw in, free kick, set piece. They've bought the Forest Green "sh!thouse your way to a win" book. Completely solid at the back. Notts County need to win it though. They need to create more. Some awful free kicks and corners. Both keepers with one very good save but in reality, some poor decisions from both teams have meant they haven't created enough.

All in all, I'm still sticking with my prediction of Wimbledon to win. They'll take a nil nil or spawn some goal off someone's backside and shut up shop.

Separately, their wing backs of Tilley and Neufville look decent.

I would be very surprised if Walker wasn't here next season but if for any reason he wasn't I would love us to use the relationship with Palace to bring in Owen Goodman on loan

 

It's not going to be a pretty last 25 mins.

Could be very frustrating for County unless they score soon.
