If they do not restructure that midfield, we are done before we kick off. As you say East is the only one who has impressed me. I think we let both Clayton and Gilliead go, and replace with better. Unfortunately Smallwood is with us for the foreseeable, but it would be back up.

That's what worries me Onside. If Gilliead and Clayton are offered new deals, it will tell me that Hughes has learnt nothing and won't give me much hope for next season.

I can’t make my mind up whether to sack him or let him go for a few months with the clear instructions to play more positive football.

That’s because the run on bullshite sustainability!

Sustainability is just another term in business which means the owner doesn’t want to spend.
Clubs that operate like this go backwards. Liverpool operate like this. Unlike Bradford City fans who say they care about the club but do nothing to highlight it big clubs aim to drive owners that don’t want to move the club forward out of the club.

It’s a disgrace and an embarrassment that Rupp gets away with it here and that Sparks does also! Both should be driven out of the club or Sparks going back to marketing at least. He is no CEO, certainly not no to get the owner to stop with his bollocks or sustainably!

Another season goes by and another failure. I am digging you out @JonButterfield@JonButterfield because this season you were Mr Positive. Shocked that you don’t understand the club. This club is messed up! Unless serious changes are made at board room level then it could be another difficult season next season also.

That's why Hughes needs to go (and will I think) OR be told in no uncertain terms that he has to play a decent style of attacking football especially at home.

I had exactly the same thought when I saw Notts mentioned in the same breath as Wrexham as being a definite for automatics - I don’t see it as it stands, unless they go massively all in on recruitment over the summer and (to my knowledge) they’re not on the same planet as Wrexham for funds.

Surely we won’t retain Clayton and I’d even release Gilliead. We need younger legs in midfield who have an eye for goal.

I have been positive, bud, and still am.

The main criticism of Hughes is he didn't get it right first time, while others (Evans and Wellens) did.

That's true, and disappointing, and we failed to get promoted, so we're all hurting.

However, that does not tally with Hughes having to be forced out.

Edin Rahic is responsible for the 'you only get one go' mentality. It's bollocks.

We need to be more mature as a fan base - in my opinion - and fully back Hughes for another go next season.

If we go backwards, or we stagnate, let's look at it then - but only then, and not before.

We spent enough in the summer to produce a promotion team there will be one or two spend more than us next year but many more spending less it’s how we spend it that matters. We need players to fit into Hughes style of play something that didn’t happen this year. And Hughes isn’t going to change which is strange when you look at the sort of player he was. Does he need a new assistant

Do we need a new fitness coach? We seem to always look the less fitter side. Like both Carlisle legs, sometimes in the second halves it looked like some of our lads were just chasing shadows, where as Carlisle fitness wise looked like they could go up another gear. Not the first time this season either.

Think that mentality is something that might need addressing. All those points dropped from 90+ minutes. All those times we were "1 win from the autos" or "if we just win our game in hand" type scenarios over the last few months, we never capitalised on any of those games, we always looked like we weren't sure of ourselves when we got into positions. There were spots when everything was in our hands, but mentally they crumbled.

Ive thought this. On too many occasions this season we've looked a yard slower all over the pitch. Yesterday makr that 2 yards!!

We need far more mobility in midfield and pace up front for starters.

We need a left back with pace who is equally good defending and going forward.

We need a trimmer leaner squad, not sure how we manage that this summer, too many on long contracts that we could do with moving on, the likes of Oliver and Young.

We need a proper back up keeper to challenge Lewis and keep Doyle on as coach only.

I'm not sure it's necessarily a fitness issue, I just think we lack legs all over the pitch and the lack of pace make us look very sluggish as we can't get close enough to the play.

This is even more apparent when we play Smallwood and Clayton together, they just haven't got the engines to compensate for each others lack of mobility and Gillead looks noticeably worse because he also ends up with way too much ground to cover to plug the gaps.

Spot on idle, the midfield needs a massive overall and Gilliead and Clayton would be for the exit door.I like Gilliead in that he gives his all but we need more in attacking ability and scoring goals from that position.I have a feeling Hughes likes Gilliead and he will be here next season.

Neither were Stockport, but they are now one win away from promotion.

That will be the acid test for me. If Gilliead or Clayton are still with us then we really have lost the plot.

I can understand Gilliead getting a new deal. Clayton's time is up though.

Gillead would be ok as a squad man. He very rarely gets injured, plenty of energy and can fill in a number of positions.

I could understand why Hughes may opt to keep him around but if he starts on the first game then I'll absolutely share your sentiments.

They did get well over 100 points and went toe to toe with Wrexham all season. They’ll certainly be as good as Stockport were this season.
