Player of the season so far...

Neufville.

Up to about a month ago.

Has to be Touray now as he hasn’t really put a foot wrong all season.

Came with a few doubts but the first name on the team sheet now.

 

Difficult, it has been a team effort without any real standout league 1 quality, and that's meant as no disrespect to anyone. Bobby or Sarce for me, joint top scorers and we would be nowhere without their goals. They've had to pick up a lot of the slack of not having a goal scoring number 9.

 

Sarce, Neufville or Touray

 

Touray for me. He's been the most consistent player.

Weirdly, according to whoscored.com, a stats site that the EFL use and publish teams of the season from every year, they have Joe Wright as our best player this season. Actually, he's the second best player in L1 this season behind Oli Norwood at Stockport. His aerial duals, his clearances per game, blocks and short passes are really high compared to the defenders in L1.

We've had some great performances so far but I can't see beyond Touray. I wish we could clone him and play him both at wing back and the back 3! So strange that Stockport fans seems rather indifferent towards him based on his time there, sometimes a player just fits perfectly in a team and that is definitely the case with him.

 

Touray by a mile if consistency is the benchmark .

 

Probably Touray but Sarcevic runs him close. Whenever we play well it just seems to run through Sarcevic and he's pretty much our talisman at the minute.

 

Again got to be Toure or Sarcevic

them too are streets ahead in terms of consistency. Toure edges it due to being available for far more minutes although thats not a slight on Sarcevic

 

Max Power anyone? Perhaps ignore the terrible shooting but great leadership on and off the pitch. He seems to let other players do the post match interviews after a win or draw and takes the responsibility himself after a defeat. I like this a lot. It was something Smallwood never seemed to do at all.

 

Good name to throw in there. Yes, we missed him when he missed the Rotherham game. With him I think we'd have won easily, I maintain they are the worst side I've seen this season. He's having a big influence, bigger than I expected, as I wasn't impressed pre-season (I know it means little). Seems like a player for the big occasion.

 

Id say Sarce. He scores important goals. Pointon, Neufville and Touray also been key, i agree, but I’d have Sarce consistent without having the dips of form the others have (Granted, Touray only had a couple of iffy games). Sam Walker also been consistently very good.

 

Sarcevic. I'd never have thought he'd be my pick as I thought it might be a step too far for him but he's so canny. He's like a living textbook on how t play lower league football. A very very wily customer.

Be interesting to know who the player's pick would be.

 

Based on number of games played and consistency of performance, it would be Touray. Agree with all the comments re Sarc though. Quality at this level - I just wish we'd signed him 2 years earlier. If we are to make top 6 or better this season, I think he has to stay fit and play in the majority of games.

 

One who has gone under the radar is Sam Walker, he's been brilliant again this season and there have been quite a few games where he's pulled off big saves that have either kept us in games or won us points. He's also done a lot of bits that get forgotten quickly like dealing with crosses/set pieces to take pressure off the defense.
