It would be game on if we win and they all draw.
It would be great to be in a position where beating Scunny guaranteed us leapfrogging them without worrying about other teams.

Charlton are the ones to aim at for me. Two tough fixtures for them but they have found some form. And Plymouth & Scunthorpe are in a far better position that us to capitalise if Charlton do slip up. Its the hope that kills you!

As long as the players get as many points on the board and get as close as they can then that is fine for me for the remaining three games. Say we finish a point or three off the play offs, I hope they spend the summer looking back at the many poor results across the season (especially Jan, Feb, March) and it frustrates the hell out of them like it has done with us.

Ideally we could do with Scunthorpe beating Pymouth on Tuesday night - providing we do our bit by beating Southend and Walsall. I am happy for Scunthorpe to secure a place before going into the last game IF we have done 'our bit'. That would mean we would need to beat Scunthorpe and Rochdale would have to avoid defeat against Charlton for us to take that last place. We also need Plymouth to drop points this Saturday at home to Rotherham - lots to consider!!!

    Improbable but not impossible outcomes.

In all honesty, do we actually WANT to finish 6th? I’m torn if I’m honest. Part of me wants us to win and get into the POs (would our ‘stay away’ fans return?) but the other side of me thinks it would be disastrous.

Imagine scraping into the top6 and getting to Wembley again. (No, you’ll have to think harder than that). Rahic will be convinced that his ‘plan’ has worked (and who could blame him) and he’ll stick with it.

Many on here have stated they disapprove of the new project and the way that Rahic wants us to go. But if we got to Wembley again despite not spending in January and cutting the wage bill last summer, it will be disastrous long term

I was thinking the exact same thing. Mistakes have been made and the chances of him learning from them if we get into the playoffs are slim at best.

    We won't get there anyway...

Or it might show them that with a bit more investment we would have been pushing for top two.

But as you say it doesn't matter as it isn't going to happen

Unlikely. we had an ideal platform last season to push on and we didn't. Even after the addiotnal income we recieved through players sales, sell ons and a record number of season tickets sold. If we weren't willing to do it then we never are.

It will be a miracle if we make the PO but if somebody gave me the chance right now of finishing 6th, hell yeah.

If it's true they should have had the conviction to get rid of him and back their new man, rather than giving a manager they didn't trust a reduced budget and intentionally regressing when there was a platform to push on.

Which business would have some one in a senior position and not trust them (not disagreeing with your comment) shocking decision not to sack him as they wanted to do during the closed season.
Could anyone imagine Lord Sugar or Richard Branson employing someone in a senior position who they had no faith in and let them to do the job.

Totally agree they should have sacked him but I think they were still pandering to fans.

But they aren’t that bothered about getting into the top 2. Their plan for now is to get out of this league, within 3 seasons, as cheaply as possible.

If they see us scrape a PO place and then get to Wembley again, they will be satisfied, bearing in mind how much of a budget cut they made

I'd suggest it was lack of bottle rather than pandering to fans, let's just supose McCall had taken us up through the play offs just when would they have sacked him, because it was obvious there was friction between the owner/owners and manager.

Made no difference anyway but I can’t see why they’d have done that
