If I remember correctly, the paper was called The Yorkshire Sports. The name 'Pink' was it's nickname.
I had to dash home pretty quick to my Dad's newsagents shop to deliver them!

From memory, it took about 1 hour. I do recall for certain, the front page was the scores of the day and match review. The remainder of the paper content was produced in the week leading up to the “copy”.

Think there was a seller at bottom of Darley st. by the time you got there after the match...

I think they brought it back in the late nineties. I remember a version of it as a kid……but not the original version some of you golden oldies refer to!

I’m 55 and I remember as a kid waiting in the paper shop just below the Craven Heifer on Manchester road for a “sports” on a Saturday teatime.
The shop would gradually fill up if it was late for any reason.

I was surprised how quickly they got them out.I remember once going to Barnsley, and by the time I got back to Cleckheaton, the Pinks were already at the newsagents.Could not do it today,I think the T&A is printed somewhere. in the North East.
Just to even things up,the Yorkshire Evening Post also did a similar paper for the Leeds area, and that was printed on Green paper.

Don Alred was the sports reporter on both Bradford City and Odsal Speedway when I first started reading the Pink, then David Markham took over and after printing something Jack didn't like he banned him from traveling to away games on the team coach, you'd see big Dennis Flatt with his bag of cameras/lens changing ends at half time.

My over riding memory was picking up the Pink on Idle Road and the amount of times, a game had (for example) Oldham L Bradford L.

Straight to the radio for the recap on BBC (wasn't radio 5 in them days, I'm sure) and awaiting a recap of the scores from James Alexander Gordon at 6pm, before Danny Baker did his 'phone in' show. Remember, recalculating tables in the Pink after the scores recap.

How many times have you joined the crowd outside Rumbelows or DER at 4:45 waiting with baited breath watching the teleprinter on TV for the result of an away game. Prehistoric when compared to todays radio coverage and modern internet.

I love seeing old pictures of Valley Parade. :grinning:

Maybe we'll be 2-0 at half time today. :D
