Penny Arcade (with Poll)

I personally like the pre match Penny Arcade song, seems to get the crowd going. I just wish they put up the words on the scoreboard as nobody seems to know them apart from the chorus.

I am not a fan of the 'country road' song though

Me too. I do know the words, but I would like them to put up the words. I suspect a few are singing and the rest are clapping which is fine

 

Our version is 10x better than the one man utd sing which sounds awful

Not a fan of Penny Arcade particularly. Nothing wrong with the song per se but it is very old so it feels a bit random to start playing it now when the club has no previous affinity to it. That feels to me like fake history and I find that cringe. Not a fan of midland road either, not so much the song itself but I just think it's a poor version which is a bit dirgey and grates on me. Some good loud rock or dance music to get the atmosphere going would do it - it's not complicated!

On a side note I do think our stadium dj is pretty good and I would hazard a guess they are probably a similar age to me with similar tastes cos there's quite a bit of 90s indie in there and a few more modern pop stuff. Also quite like it when they have the dj for the main stand (assume other stands have the same?) - last time he was there he was playing some bangers!

All that said music is very subjective and whatever they go for some people won't like it.

 

I was just saying to friends on Saturday that the DJ always plays a great selection of tunes pre match. Despite my advancing years, still love the 90s indie era of music.

My choice for the players to walk out to would have to be The Skids - Into the Valley though.

 

I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to music, being born in the 50s and being influenced by progressively expanding genres of the 60s,70s,80s made be appreciative of most. I hate Rap and Hip Hop but otherwise I have a liking of most everything.
I like Penny Arcade but then I like everything that Roy Orbison ever sang but to me it's out of place at Valley Parade.

 

I am sure we used to play into the valley at one point didn't we? Maybe if our form continues we should go back to the 90's and 'The Only Way is Up'!

Yeah I love loads of music but I am am definitely an indie girl at heart

Yes just this, it seems irrelevant to us. I remember it getting played pre match when we were away at Vale last season (during that horrible run where we lost the plot). I thought it sounded quite cool, all the fans were clapping along but I imagine it's a tradition for Vale. Has someone at city seen that and thought - we should do that? - maybe not but at least be original!

At least we got rid of Edin's Ice Hockey thing (and got rid of Edin more to the point )

How things have changed we are actually talking about the air time given to Penny Arcade, inflated prices on club merchandise and a stadium beer contract that sells poor quality beverages.
What happened to sack the board,sack the manager and get rid of every single player.
Don't you just love football just goes to show how winning results change the mood long my it continue.
