Humphrys reminds me of Mark Leonard with the way he's already landing just as the defender wins the uncontested header.

 

Forwards generally get a terrible deal from the refs and defenders are almost a protected species these days.

 

I agree there's that perception but the refs are usually dealing with forwards backing in and trying to 'pin' defenders usually with arms round the defender's back trying to restrict them from getting in front of them. Defenders react by trying to get their arms over the top of attackers and wrestling them out the way followed by a dramatic Swan dive with arms out appealing to the ref. Can understand why refs usually just let it 'play out'.

Seems somewhat bizarre to sign him to play in a certain system/way then GA decides to play a different way effectively wasting a squad place. This cannot have been a GA signing can it?

A strange one for sure, I just though his comment's about Alexander and the club were very honest, but him being an older pro things like that are all part of a footballers career.

"It wasn't a fall-out or anything, he just changed his plans of what he thought once when he first brought me in and then that was it really.


"I just didn't manage to establish myself there, which obviously is difficult (anyway) because halfway through the season, the team have been really successful all year at doing what they've done because they were in a play-off position.

"So it was always going to be (more) difficult when the gaffer didn't want to change from what he'd been doing which was the plan at first.

Strange thing is and I'm not knocking the kid as I might have missed it but I thought young Jenson Metcalfe would have paid his respects to the club for the way he was handled and allowing him to leave for Millwall, good business for both parties but we could have said give us another season to get up and you can go ?.
