Not a good sign really, city are desperate for a right back so couldn't Hopkin offer a pay as you play with the offer of a short term contract if he looks ok- unless he is not fit for 90 minutes work.
But the same could be said for our current players over 90 minutes!

Very telling that Hopkin cannot currently bring in any free agents to the club at the moment.

 

How can anyone realistically look forward to January and the 'backing' Hopkin is going to receive if we can't even bring in desperate free agents on short term deals in problem areas we're struggling to cover?

Hang your hopes elsewhere, because January is going to come and go and we'll bring in nothing but cheap.

 

Caddis didnt look out of place when I was watching on Monday getting involved and putting in a couple of strong challenges, but I'm sure Hopkin would have him in ASAP if he knew it was the right move on what he's seen.

 

That's exactly what a few Blackburn have said to me that if we were to sign caddis after signing Akpan we really must be in alot of shite.

how much can these free agents realistically be demanding?

we're just been cheap again aren't we, offering peanuts and wondering why they won't accept.

 

I wonder how much room we have to play with on the wages/turnover ratio given the ridiculous 40 man squad we seem to have assembled.

 

The problem could be Hopkin not wanting to use too much of his budget on stop gaps rather than longer term players in January.

We’re at least seeing Hopkin doing the negotiations which is a positive and we haven’t heard him complain about the money he’s been given so you don’t know what’s been offered.

 

I think if he thought they would be the real deal he would pay them, but what I am picking up is that they might the best footballer in the world but if they don’t have the right character they are no good to us. Plus they are not without a club for nothing!

In other news Shaun Harvey has appealed to FIFA to allow loans outside the transfer window. It would be for second tier clubs and below and would be limited to players who qualify for the national team in the relevant country and are under 23. Seems like a fair compromise.
