I remember crossing that bridge. Always afraid we were going to get jumped by away fans, no idea why tbh.

My old playground Dave! I knew the area around that bridge like the back of my hand.

We ordered a Taxi from the Dolly when it was raining or walked up Bobby Hamstrasse, then along Midland Rd.

Not been in there pre match for years, but when I regularly did it often involved a taxi to vp at quarter to three.

VP is within an hour walking distance from as far as Bingley, Baildon, Thornton, Clayton, Odsal, and everywhere within.

There’s ample regular public transport to Bradford city centre from pretty much anywhere in the Bradford district, and from there it’s a 10-20 minute walk depending on how fit / pissed you are.

There shouldn’t really be that many people insisting on driving, causing further congestion and headache to all in surrounding areas.

An hour to Bingley? Google reckons about 1h40, Baildon just short of 1h30.

Even Idle Google reckons would take over an hour, about 40 mins on public transport to get there for kick off or 10 minutes in car.

That is why people drive, it is quicker and more convenient.

And I can tell you the walk after the game up Kings road to Morrison’s at 5 lane ends needs Sherpa support, I thought it was tough going up Bolton road and then down to where Ring of Bells used to be. But then again, I’m not 20 anymore.

    Excellent idea.

Now if you can just get everyone else to walk it'll be a breeze for me to get there in my car and park within stumbling distance from the ground.

I've not renewed my parking space in Burlington Street Car Park this coming season. So a space available in there for £395.00 for someone

Age, mobility, time aside, yes you have a point but expecting people to walk from Bingley is stretching it a bit. I’d have to set off on Thursday!;)

When we lived up High House I got the wife to pick me up on Bolton Lane, it’s a long long walk all up hill!

I don’t live in Bradford and travel by car from 25 miles away and park in the Broadway. Then it’s just under a 1 mile walk to the ground.

A park and ride up near Odsal would be great.

Used to get in early and park on Grosvenor Road but Broadway is the easiest these days. Lots of City fans seem to use it.

OH gives me and our son and occasionally 1 or 2 of his friends a lift to VP and back. He doesn't follow football and is our chauffeur so no parking issues.
I am now the proud owner of a senior citizen free bus pass. On the occasions when our son gets the train from Bingley or he isn't going, I shall be on the bus there and back.

I've not renewed yet, not sure I will. First time in 8 years I won't have my lad with me as he goes to University and that's the main reason I went. Might just take a passing interest now.

I often walk from Wilsden (top end) if beers after are involved. Takes about 90 minutes over Sandy Lane, through Chellow Dene, Jackie Beck, down Thornton Road and onto City Road. Final destination used to be NBH but now likely to be either The Fighting *@?$ or The Rose & Crown. Just shy of five miles.

If no beers are involved I take the horse and stable it during the match.

I was mortified when son, daughter and I didn’t renew after years and years of ownership and attending. They ended up with other interests and jobs and the 400 mile round trip became just too much when work involved many hours and manager on call-duties.

It hasn’t stopped me watching, going to occasional away games and still being a life long fan.

    Happy days Tony.

I've never found it takes long to get out of the car park, it does however take a while to get through canal road if you are heading towards Shipley.
