    Hi,

Any help on the following much appreciated:

Parked at the above retail park, and subsequently received a fine for overstaying my welcome, £100 within 28 days, reducing to £50 if paid by the end of the month.

I believe the maximum stay is 2 hours, I was there for 3 and a half hours, I accept I was there for that amount of time, but £50 ,for in effect , for an hour and a half does seem excessive.

The company was CP Plus, are these type of fines legal, or is an invoice, and worth appealing ?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I have also seen City fans park there on match-day, and wondered how they get on

No idea where you stand legally. However, I would have thought that the company involved should clearly state on their signs, what the 'fine' would be if you parked beyond the permitted time allowance. The amount you have been charged does seem unreasonably excessive.

I know it wont help you as you were there 3 and half hours, but I thought you were allowed 3 hours?

I think it is 3 hours, always has been when i’ve been there. To be fair it is well signposted that if you go over that time you will get charged although i do agree the charges are excessive. Thats why car parks like the Broadway are better if you don’t want to get caught out.

    Thanks Rogered Tart,

Forster Square Retail Park is somewhere I don't go to very often, I admit I should have been more aware of the signs, won't happen again, will be going to Broadway in future, wonder what the retailers on the Park think about it, three hours doesn't seem an awful lot of time, especially at this time of year.

I had heard that they had recently reduced the time scales and started fitting new barriers, but not sure.

My experience in a similar situation with a different company was to totally ignore (4 years ago)
Always thought it was best not to open up any correspondence with these chancers...

I'm glad you took my reply in the way it was intended, it could have come across as me having a go and that wasn't my intention.

3 hours is plenty for the poor fare that’s on offer there

It's more to stop the tight sods who park there for free then walk over to Broadway.

Although thinking about it, your point still probably stands.

More and more of the private clinics the NHS employ for treatment use them as well, A friend went to one in Leeds and a week later got a letter with the same, £100 or £60 if paid quickly, They are all scammers

It's definitely 3 hours. I parked there for the last home game. I made sure to rock up at 2.30pm so I could be away well before the 3 hours were up. I tend to park in Broadway as you pay as you leave so you can't be conned later down the line. Paying up front is a quick cash cow as you never know how or when you might get delayed so I tend to avoid those car parks if I can.
