    These games are good for as we read in the T&A giving the likes of Hendrie and Fould's a run out, I wouldn't be to fussed if we don't progress but if we do get through from the group a day out at Wembley would be grand.

    It could replace the League Cup if they made it an EFL trophy with Championship teams in, and reduce the burden on the top PL teams at the same time by taking them out of the League Cup.

    As it stands it's just a run out for reserves with a wembley final tagged on.

    Given I won't be attending any of the group matches, I'm not even sure I would go to the Wembley Final. Strikes me as a bit hypocritical if I did.

    He substituted the goalkeeper, Nicky Weaver, at the first opportunity (1st minute), bringing on a certain Richard O'Donnell. Then two more substitutions after 17 minutes.

    Then we did the same trick in 2016, substituting Colin Doyle after 2 minutes, only for the EFL to fine us.

    Although their line up has quite a number of changes there are plenty of changes at the back for us which suggest there will be an error or mix up somewhere. Up front we seem unlikely to score. Wedensday win for me.

    It’s not worthless though. Like you say, the financial element is always a good thing, it also gives managers the chance to play some fringe players and get legs into the squad. While no one liked the fact the PL U23 teams were added, this competition has always been abit tinpot going back to when it was the LDV and St Johnstone Paint. Would be nice to do well in it and the last few rounds are always quite well attended.

    Drove in the box with pace beating two players then passed to Oliver who was slow to read it. Should also have had a penalty. He is the only threat so far
