Disagree with most of first paragraph actually. I also do not want to live hand to mouth becsuse it is too insecure. Promotion push is much more secure from a solid foundation.

In fairness, I think @Bronco@Bronco is close to the truth. The message boards are a good indicator of that.
When that 'Cert' of a win against Wimbledon kicked us in the teeth, soon to be followed by another thumping at Blackpool ....... HOW many threads, pages and posts appeared ? Simply because those defeats threatened our League position. :)

Maybe my first comment its an age thing, when I started watching City it was for pleasure (some pleasure mostly bad times) we were never interested in balance sheets and non footballing stuff, now a days with most informstion avialable on the internet some fans seem to have to have a comfort blanket that the club can get through a bad spell because we are solvent.
Now I'm of the opinion that if your a business man and purchase a league one football club you should realise there might be an occasion or two where you might have to finance a poor season from your own pocket.
That is my view of an owner of a football club.
We pay our brass in the hope that we see a good product on the park not that the owners have balanced the books, and we can sustain our football at league one level, because IMO no matter how they gear our club off the park somewhere down the road they will have to finance a promotion challenge, that is of course if that what they want, I cant ever see a situation where monies generated from non football will generate enough for the above.

Yes, very much an age thing, I suspect. ;)
As a kid I was a #gloryhuntingb4st4rd, and if that was to be achieved by my local, home town Club - A bonus.
Over the years we have ALL moaned about the smelly piss holes, and shit refreshments, and latterly, grubby seats in the stands. But we tolerate these things. :)
What we won't tolerate is crap play and attitudes on the pitch !!
I'm pleased the pitch is being sorted ....... another excuse is put to bed.
All we need now is the team to be sorted, an' we're home and dry ! ;)

I am 63 Bronco, I just removed a few decades from my profile because I could. I too pay my money for what I see on the pitch. You make a good point about financing a promotion push which I am not sure how to answer at the moment. Could the gradual progress from a solid foundation which I prefer to see cope with a push for promotion? I am not sure.

Unfortunately, if Rahic told South Yorks bantam the sky was green he would believe it.

Without doubt I'm sure it would be a starting point, but the debate was around fans commenting on balance sheets ETC and I don't think in the past fans worried about such things mainly because that sort of information did not get put out into the open.

This great post IMO by @FrenchBantam@FrenchBantam sums what I want from my club.

There's a few posters who think that's all it would take.. And then everything would be rosy.
