I’m certainly not and wouldn’t turn down decent investment on the basis it’s to good use , ie Academy etc” rather I’m mocking the “ Fair play” rules designed to allow largess owners buying success whilst still remaining in the rules . . A massive difference between , on paper a well run club say Lincoln , compared to other clubs not so well run who rely on benefactors to keep them afloat because of financial largess at best or mismanagement at worst .

Part of the reason for the financial rules is that you can discount costs like stadium renovations, academy and women's team which is there to encourage spending on that. With the new league 1 rules it means that 50% of any investment over 500k can be used on wages so if owners are funding extra for the wage budget it means there is a lot of other money that can be used on other areas and if it's not used for that it should be sat in the bank.

 

Karl 'nearly got promoted' Robinson at it again. He must be the most overrated manager in the lower leagues in the past 10-15 years. To have managed over 800 games at clubs who aren't relegation strugglers and only have 1 promotion is very poor. Assuming they don't turn this around I think that will be his 5th failed play off campaign added to a number of seasons where he's finished just outside the play offs.

A fairer way if we want parity should be a salary cap where everyone can spend up to say £5 million, like the way the rugby league salary cap works.
