If they are arguing they are no longer non league and are effectively league 3, they need to start operating under the same FFP restrictions and transfer windows as every other league club. If they're happy to do that then yes, it should change to 3up but if they want to keep their own rules then they'll just have to suck it up and accept that life isn't always fair.

 

This is the part they don't want to mention or acknowledge and it is one of the reasons why team coming up do so well as they get league 2 players in the National League and pay massive wages that league 2 clubs can't afford within their rules. I also question how much these clubs really care about for any reason other than they are the side suffering from it, whichever club wins the league tomorrow won't be protesting for it next season and neither will the other if they go up through the play offs. There's reason Rochdale didn't care about it until last season

 

A month or 2 back, a poster on here was complaining that we hadn't tried to sign a York player. Truth is, even if we rated him, we wouldn't be willing to pay him anywhere near his York wage.

 

That was me. The player is 21 year old Josh Stones. I've no idea about his wage situation but you might be right. He is undoubtedly a talent mind and will be plying his trade much higher up the leagues.

 

Why would a player like Josh Stones be on a huge wage?

He played at Guiseley, didn't cut the mustard at Wigan Athletic, had a couple of short-but-successful loans in non-league (Oldham), how is that a player that's going to be earning a small fortune?

I know there are players in non league who will earn more than some of our lot, but this one? Really?

I wouldn't expect us to offer him much when York signed him, and I certainly wouldn't expect York to have to break the bank to compete for his signing?

His valuation now might be higher, but unless he's renegotiated I'd be surprised if he was on extremely significant money. More likely a generic League Two wage, no? Am I missing something?

EDIT: Apparently some York fans were getting silly saying they'd paid over £300,000 for him. I read their chairman then had a laugh at the supposed numbers on Twitter, so yeah, I'm not really seeing it. Could be smoke and mirrors to inflate any future transfer fee/wage, mind.
