Other league 1 matches

Northampton have 35 points for a reason, they’re not good enough.
We have 65 points because we’re better than them.
We give them respect, because they’re our opponents, but let’s not think of them as something they’re not.
I’m sure we’ll all be sitting a lot happier next Friday after we’ve won and other teams drop points.

 

I'm not one for being on here every week stating that our next fixture is 'must win' but surely the emerging picture would suggest that Friday is huge. We win and I reckon we are 75% probability of a play off place. We lose and it's right down to 50/50. The fact that it's Northampton amplifies that necessity as it's our easiest fixture on paper and it'll damage us psychologically if we don't win this one. We desperately need that cushion of 6+ points.

 

Reading also have both Cardiff and Lincoln to face yet too.

They're in decent form but have some tough fixtures. If they make it then fair dos to them.

 

I’d much rather be in our shoes than Huddersfield’s , managerless with odds on Manning won’t ever return , lots of their squad on lengthy exorbitant deals….They can change the manager but not a high percentage of the squad for at least two seasons? They have far and away more problems on the footballing and club operational side than us in the medium term . Nobody , yet nobody forecast we would finish in the top 10 never mind the top six . Disappointment if we don’t make the play offs simply because expectations grew beyond our wildest dreams. Just look at others who came up with us ?

 

I agree, Friday is huge. Win and other results go our way and the gap to 7th could be up to 8 points. Lose and other results not go favourably for us and the gap could be down to 2 points. With an away game to then follow on Monday against a promotion chasing rival, the chances of us then falling out of the top 6 completely (for the first time this season), would be extremely high.

 

Its not hysteria its a game against a side in piss poor form that are league 2 bound so i would say its a must win game ............lose that and i can see us starting to drop down the league.
We have a huge chance to give ourselves some space come friday evening withteams arpund us playing each other ..

Our home form is brilliant
They are simply piss poor
They have to go for the win so that again plays into our hands
I honestly think we will batter them if we play like we normally do at home

 

Sadly for us they have an owner who will put the funds in
I think they will be up there next season and they should be with that squad

 

We arent going to batter anybody in terms of goals, but we should have enough to put out a similar performance to the home game against Posh.

I would take 3 or 4 scruffy 1-0 wins now to be honest though.

That was said for the last three seasons Gaz and they are still falling down the leagues . Even the fans think the way their club is run is an absolute amateur s/ show despite their wealth. We thought Rahic was bad!

 

Not an easy job at Huddersfield with fans over expecting and short of patience.

 

Give me a 1-0 90 + 6 own goal at Wembley any day of the week.

 

Same with us in league 2 really. Someone will get it right eventually, it just depends when they get the right man in.

 

And hopefully it’s in League 2 for them as well !

 

Northampton is a must win and it needs to be convincing. The extra rest and time on the training pitch to work on the things we have been doing poor should work in our favour.

We have a 4 point lead over Reading and a game in hand, and a 6 point lead over Plymouth. Its comfortable and no need to panic. Easter period will probably give us some indication. 4pts would be a decent haul against Northampton and Wycombe.

Thats a very good set of fixtures because at the very least 3 teams in the pack will be dropping points.

On Easter Monday we can stifle Wycombes charge, plus Reading have Lincoln and its Bolton vs Stockport.

 

A huge week or so ahead. If we managed 4 points from 6 and with the other teams around all taking points off each other, we could be looking at maybe an 8 point gap between 7th spot with 5 games to go and the play offs looking set in stone.

Looking like it could be a grim L1 campaign for South Yorkshire next season. Sheff Weds will be starting with a 15 point deduction, no new owners onboard as of yet and not really any players on the books for next season either. To add to that, reports over the weekend with apparent leaked info from Barnsley, that the manager has been told the club are slashing their budgets next season with a rumoured budget of around £3.5m, which would more than likely be the smallest playing budget in the division next season.

 

I looked at all the remaining fixtures of our rivals and it’s going to be a tight finish. I think we will need 10 points from our last 7 games which will give us 75 points. I’ve got us in 6th place just one point ahead of Stevenage in 7th. Stockport,Bolton and Plymouth I’ve got as 3rd 4th and 5th.

 

Next 3 games will have a huge bearing we come away with 7 points then that will more or less have us there.

 

I predict 73pts is enough for 6th place. Too many teams needing to win 4/5 of their last 6/7 and with many still to play each other.

Lots will cancel each other out and hopefully Bolton and Stockport win their big games.
