McCall saying he wanted to keep his squad together is hardly insincere or untruthful. Just because he knew some would never stay, that doesn’t mean he didn’t WANT to keep his squad together....!

The fact is, we had a large number of players out of contract at the end of last season and Stuart made it clear he wanted to keep as many as possible. What is disingenuous about that?

As it happens, Killa was kept on (I think we had an option on him), McMahon eventually re-signed for another season, but we lost the remainder, Marshall, Mezza and McArdle. I don’t believe Stuart wanted to sell Clarke either and the only player he was hoping to ‘lose’ was Darby who he had released.

 

But if it is the same view, won’t you criticise him for ‘not dropping it’???

 

He had no chance of keeping key players except McCardle

it'd only be "disingenuous" if McCall had lied when he said he WANTED to keep his squad together. he quite clearly DID want to keep them, so it's not disingenuous is it.
