I fully think that what ever we had offered Meredith (within our budget) he would have turned it down until he knew whether or not we were going up. This move was his last chance at Championship football and getting into the Aussie Squad for the World Cup.

He simply wouldn't have committed to us in December/ January or any time after not knowing if we would be in League One or not. We were always his fallback option, as he'd proved in the past. The rest (T&A articles etc) was just schmoosing.

Have they, I heard Edin say at the fans forum he wasn't at the Yeovil hotel where he was said he'd supposed to have said to the lad he was not good enough to play for Bradford City, what more have we heard ?.

If Grayson stays, I think we'll bring Jermaine Beckford or Joe Garner in.

End of the day, the club were wrong not to offer the players they wanted to stay a contract in January. This whole we don't want to upset the apple cart because some won't be offered contracts was nonsense. We ended up doing exactly that this season, giving NKP and Killgallion new contracts but not the likes of Doyle and McMahon.

That been said I could only realistically see McMahon, Mezza and Rory staying, but still better than nothing and at least we'd have gone about it the right way

Was in talks before play offs started but once it was us against milwall in final he couldn't lose. Word has it he spoke to harris that same eve to confirm he was going there that' why deal was done so quickly.

Throughout Stuart's combined reigns with us, we have struggled in cup competitions against lower league opposition. That is weakness in his management that he'll need to address. Keeping the same mentality, whoever you play should be a given. Maybe this is what the owners commented on about his record in big games.

Well you certainly talk a good game. You state you don’t have an axe to grind and previously defended him. However, the rest of your post reverts back to criticising him or calling him lucky...?

The fact remains that NOBODY has EVER suggested mass investment would be made to get us out of L1. That was always promised once we got into the Championship and need mass injections of cash just to make us competitive.

So until we get there, I suggest you calm down and stop having a pop at Lawn just because the current owners haven’t invested what you and others expected

But as you say, you’re not willing to accept there is any other ‘angle’ here, so I agree we should just drop it.

Well here's the opening comment from James on 9th December 2016

JAMES Meredith has signaled his intention to finish his career in England at Valley Parade.

City's attacking left back is out of contract in the summer and has opened talks over a possible new deal.

I believe the owners admitted they should have done new contract negotiations before they did I'll try and fiind the link, or maybe some could help find it ?.

Fine. We'll agree to disagree since you're not going to change your mind regardless of what is shown.

I'll read the actual words that he said and understand them whilst you carry on believing he clearly said something that didn't actually happen.

if he had absolutely zero intention of signing again there wouldn't have been an article at all.

How many discussions do you ‘drop’ mid-conversation when you feel you have a point to make and the other party feels obliged to keeping it going too?

    Wind yer neck in

You could be correct although Beckford got a bad knee injury and missed most of the present season at Bury and he'll be 35 in December, one thing I'll guarantee if Beckford comes here Eion Doyle certainly wont ;)

Unless he signed a 3 year deal. In which case it is next season

I really wouldn't be happy if we went back for him, but a 3 year deal would hopefully rule it out.

That's a pretty conclusive knock back of the original rumour that Edin dragged him out of the dressing room and told him that he wasn't good enough in front of the whole squad.

Stuart saying that they knew there was a possibility he couldn't play in the game before they set off and didn't even go to the stadium seemed to put a stop to anything else. I can't think of any other rumours which circulated around that time that still fit but I may be missing some?

I can't see how it can be Lawn's fault that the guy who bought the club has slashed the budget, won't invest, is ripping the heart out of the club and seems set to destroy us.

I wouldn't say he had zero intention at all though, He clearly viewed it as a viable option amongst others but didn't want to commit himself at that time. That's a very understandable situation for him to be in.

Ok if he was then why did we replace them with inferior players
Yes they managed to do something we did not before the fixture - strengthen. If the owners of City had contributed more to happier atmosphere at the club then every one might have pulled together and we would have had a more positive second half of the 17/18 season.

I don't think any one has said it was Lawn's fault. People, myself included, have commented that Lawn played the big I'll only sell to someone who will take the club forward etc. He made the stick that is now being used to hit him with.
