I thought the ground Odsal is built on was contaminated, and could not,in its present state,be used for housing.

I think it's the land attached to odsal that was a tip but the stadium itself is ok

Time to let it go fella. All this negativity will do you no good. Don't be jealous of the good times we had, the trophies we won, the unbelievable away followings. Best 10 years of my life in a sporting sense, met some wonderful people, got to watch some of the greatest rugby league players in the world up close and personal, the challenge cup wins at Murrayfield and Cardiff, those never forget nights in Huddersfield beating Newcastle, Penrith and Wests Tigers in the world club challenge. Or the pitch invasion at the Don Valley after securing the title in 97. Oh, can't forget the countless great games against the Rhinos, over 24,000 at Odsal on a balmy summers night. Those special nights at Old Trafford under the lights, bringing the trophy home to Bradford in 2001,03 and 05. I could go on but don't want to cause you too much pain.

Quite right Karl. The land to the South of the Stadium going towards Chain Bar is contaminated and venting methane, you can see the vent pipes all over the site if you visit.. The cost of making that area safe is huge as the material causing the gas has to be removed. In my career I did that twice, massive task and worth a punt if you build a cash generating development but a sports complex?, no chance without massive input from Local Authority or central Govt.

On a side note I see Huddersfield Giants are worried that the football team are looking to buy out the council share in the ground which will leave them owning 80% with Giants owning 20%

Not surprised. Last I knew the commercial income is split three ways in respect of the stadium itself. The result of that is a Championship football club with only a smidge more commercial income than us apparently.
