I know we shouldn't count our chickens, Kev, but can you remember some of the fear about getting promoted by some on here and social media? The quality I've seen is poor tbh, better than league 2 of course, but there was never a real worry.

 

It’s poor stuff for sure. Cleverly is the most inanimate manager I’ve ever seen on a touchline , on that showing it could be a long season for him.
The punts we are seeing with clubs recruiting “ name” managers with zero experience are starting to show flaws.
Grant, Cleverly , Wiltshire , arnt setting the EFL alight yet? Risky for sure.

 

Yeah I expected better to be honest.

 

I thought it would be tougher, to be honest, especially facing sides like Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town - and especially considering Cardiff City actually are doing well, even if Hudders are underperforming.

I think we've got that good balance at the minute. We're definitely leaning too much on our attacking play and our experience levels are the highest in the division, but it's generally looking very healthy.

There are more expensive sides than ours that aren't looking significantly better, and I think the whole team with a pitch-side focus - Alexander, Sharpe and even the maligned Gent need to take a lot of credit.

Having a vision is something we sorely lacked under the isolated Sparks, too many managers, too many sea-changes in terms of tactics, all a bit sloppy and messy. Now we've got a manager we can back and (presumably) whose tactics we can take forward, we're in a much better position.

I suppose what I'm saying is, I'm not sure if it's League One that's really poor or if we've just sorted ourselves out - in which case, we absolutely should be competing at this level - if not a division higher.

 

I'd go with the view that we've sorted ourselves out. The recruitment in the Summer has been outstanding: Touray, Neufville and Power have taken us to another level.

I had a scan of the Barnsley forum after our game, like many on here they thought it was a great game of football, but there was also a lot of praise for us being the best side they've faced this season.

We've got a good squad, i thought Kav came in on Saturday and fitted straight into the role that was required of him. Yes, a goal would have been helpful, but his link up play and tracking back was exactly what this team is about. Metcalfe has had to wait, but he is looking like a very good player.

We are challenging at the top when for the last two months we've barely had a fit central defender to make the bench.

We've definitely got an opportunity this season the way things are shaping up. Let's see where we are at the end of November.

 

The potential decent sides will remain decent long term , perhaps County, Bolton , Cardiff , perhaps also Barnsley however there always will be teams rising up. I add ourselves and perhaps Wimbledon to that potential.
Honestly the rest as you suggest have been a bit of a disappointment watching games we have not been involved in. Last nights game was little different to average L2?

Mustn't criticise an American billionaire. They simply can't take it. Not good when an owner attacks fans like that tho fans with vlogs can criticise management decisions without referring to anyone as clowns. It's heartbreaking to see our nearest and dearest fall apart in such a manner.
