    Maybe 4-4-2 with Hosannah and Woods as full backs overlapping and DHM and Samuels up front to give some much needed pace to the team,

    I’d say that a forward line with an inability to score, a lack of creativity, a lack of organisation in the team and a squad desperately lacking in quality have more of an impact on results than people moaning on social media, but then what do I know.

    But with a bit of pre salary cap transfer activity all that could have been negated

    Going back a bit further there was Tony Leighton in the 60’s , successful at both centre half and centre forward.

    We also had David Weatherall if you you go back that far. Sometimes it worked better when a centre forward became a centre half, like Joe Cooke.

    I suggest a 9-1 formation for Saturday. At least we could play for a battering 0-0 whilst looking for a shot on the break.

    Something just doesn’t add up. We all know what’s missing and surely McCall does, so why didn’t he address it? Just one of the 3/4 holes filled could have helped but instead, he ignores them and is satisfied with his squad. Either he’s working to a budget we know nothing about or he truly hasn’t got a clue about recruitment and is afraid to make a mistake. Does anyone know if he had sole responsibility for recruitment at Motherwell or Scunthorpe?
