I'll defend the fact that Rupp has given every manager a budget which has been at least Top 7 in every one of the seasons they've been in charge (with the possible exception of 20/21).

That's not a "shoestring" run club. It's not their fault, Hughes bottle it at Carlisle in the 2nd leg of the play-offs and then decided to stupidly change the system, the classic 'throw the baby out with the bathwater'.

I get the frustration - but we need to be careful what we ask for. For instance every team who's gone up from this division since we were relegated, hasn't had a substantially bigger budget than us.

Of course the managerial choices have been wrong. But the majority of clubs don't have better than a 1 in 5 success ratio

 

Except for Smith and Cook missing so many chances a better effort in the second half,

Gotta take your chances though

In fairness to Hughes, in the league, during this year - we didn't lose a single game against our 'promotion' rivals. We've now lost two on the trot (against likely promotion rivals) away from home and conceded at least eight.
