    Fair point.

I would argue that we don’t actually have 9 midfielders though. You’re including Pybus but hasn’t he already been released and Devine and Gibson are actually members of the dev squad.

    So as it stands, we have;
Central midfielders - Dieng, Law, Vincelot, Guy (loaned in) and Reeves
    Wingers - Gilliead (loaned in)
Attacking Midfielders - McCartan and Taylor (released)

For me, this shows that we have plenty of players across the middle of of the pitch, but a lack of options still. One winger (3 if you include Robinson who started the season in the dev squad and Gibson who finishes the season still in the dev squad) is simply not enough balance.

Agree that if we can get Reeves back to his best, we don’t need Law, Dieng, Vincelot and Guy. I’d like to see the latter return but only if we release Dieng.

Very good point. Even during the successes we had with Parkinson, when did we last have a midfield that chipped in with goals. Regardless of manager, we do not seem to sign players that break from midfield and if we do, we deploy tactics that stop them doing this.

When playing the long ball to the likes of Hanson and Wyke, you’d think we would have players breaking from midfield to get on the end of any flicks, but they are all usually still sitting in our own half.

And yet some still wonder why our midfielders do not weigh in with enough goals

McCartan and Reeves are four month-per-year players.

We better not be relying on either next season.

Reeves played a full season last season. And if he gets back to the way he was playing before his chronic injury he will be good for us next season

How was he playing? Not just was he playing.

Reeves has 1 goal in his last two seasons.

Are we sure he was consistently good? I'm not.

He is a defensive midfielder and a good one. Cullen was more attacking and hardly scored

I’ll be delighted to see the crab leave. He doesn’t fit this league and should go back to Scotland where the rest of the players are too pissed to take the ball off hom

Reeves and Law are very similar.

To like one and not the other is a bit weird.

Rubbish. Cullen is a defensive midfielder and a bloody good one. Does get forward but his job was to anchor the midfield.

In what way? Law never tackles and is often in the box going backwards

Reeves never gets in to the box, who could you if you're partner is Vince and often tackles

I couldn't think of two more different midfielders

Half the problem with Reeves is that McCall clearly told him to be box to box, when his energy is Far better served in just the middle third. Tackle. Run a bit. Pass. Mac seemed to want to turn him into one of these multi function midfielders you see at Barcelona, Man City etc, ie. not an average L1 set up

If you could pair Reeves an Guy, maybe that gives enough protection for McCartan to thrive add a winger and a decent mobile striker to play alongside Wyke and it's a start. Or drop McCartan and get a creative midfielder

Similar? I couldn't think of two midfield players more dissimilar.
