Next Permanent Manager (now with Poll amended to include Truemen/Sellars)

Our two caretakers have produced an amazing reaction from the players in the last two games. Whatever their lack of experience would it be the worst decision to let them continue? Many on here suggest we need an experienced manager but Stuart, Bowyer, Grayson and Hopkin were experienced managers and where has that got us. There is a large group of managers who take part in a merry-go-round moving from club to club and generally proving to be pretty mediocre. And everyone has to start somewhere. I'm not convinced that a lack of playing experience is a reason not to appoint someone. They've clearly achieved a rapport with the players very quickly, whether that's a result of relief at not being subjected to Stuart's bizarre management or a genuine respect for them as coaches I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't dismiss the prospect of them remaining in charge. We may have inadvertently unearthed a couple of diamonds.

 

Well a Caller on ifollow mentioned Woodgate earlier and they basically said "no chance" so let's cross him off even if his odds are low

Derek Adams is a big no from me. Absolutely dispised his Plymouth teams coming here in recent years - sat in deep and just booted it long.

 

I can’t see it working but you don’t have to listen to me. If you think they are worthy it you’re entitled to your opinion. I just can’t see it, despite the results.
It’s a difficult job. We’ve had a good reaction but football doesn’t wait for anyone and we need someone who has a long term vision for the club and we will appoint a new manager early next week and rightly so in my opinion of course. Now is not the time for a gamble

 

It proved to be successful though. He has made Morecambe hard to beat and rubs up the opposition the wrong way with their tactics. Just what we need to escape relegation and get out of this league upwards eventually

 

It may have been successful but so was Bowyer for half a season. And that was up there with the worst excuse for football I've ever seen and nobody wants a repeat of that.

 

We shouldn't sit back against anyone in this division. Let's attack our way out of trouble and be an entertaining team to watch.

 

Hi Stuart - you at a bit of a loose end mate?

 

I liked the idea of Ryan Lowe as our next manager but I'm having second thoughts after our last two games. We look a lot more comfortable with a flat back four and switching back to a 5-3-2/3-5-2 seems to be a recipe for disaster right now.

If we can bring in a couple of wingers in January maybe a manager who likes to play a standard 4-4-2 is the best option? Our best teams have always played that way, maybe its just in our DNA as a club?

 

Doesn’t have to be 4-4-2, just play players to a system that suits and if a manager has a preferred formation buy players to suit. It’s not an over complicated sport, unfortunately Stuart makes it into one.
