Brighton are the team to avoid. I reckon they could go all the way in this cup if they take is seriously. Similar to Swansea in 2013 they will brush aside anyone from the lower leagues with the way they play

Newcastle fan here and thought I'd drop you some parking and pint advice.

If you're coming up the A1 I'd recommend the Metro Centre and getting the train or bus into town. It only takes about 15 minutes and cost a couple of quid. Parking at the Metro Centre is free, indoors, CCTV covered and if you want food for the drive home there's plenty of options there.

If you're parking in town there's plenty of NCP and the like.

Train station is only about 10 minutes walk from the stadium and there are over 100 pubs in walking/staggering distance. Only a couple are 'home' pubs and even those are welcoming as long as you're not acting the ****. Oh, you might not get into the boxpark by the stadium (the Stack), but that's as much to do with the club using it often for social media stuff and they want a sea of black and white shirts in the photos.

Personal recommendations are; The Forth, the Town Wall, Tilleys, Rosies (Mr Alexanders), the Strawberry (but you'd need to get in early and definitely don't act the ****) and the Trent.

If you're parking around Dean Street the Crown Posada is good.

If there's a big group of you try the Mile Castle, that's where most away fans head. It's big and cheap and you usually get served quick.

Afraid there's no secret tricks to avoid the steps up to Level 7, other than getting there early and getting the lift, or bringing your own sherpa. It'll be cold up there so stuff a couple of fresh Greggs sausage rolls into your pockets to keep you warm, or get a good thick beer vest on.

I thought shepherd did some good defensive work at times but Barnsley’s midfield did him no favours

 

Up to this time last year i thought Liverpool was the best English City up until i worked in Newcastle a brilliant amazing City with great friendly people.
All the pubs spot on aswell

 

Spent a lot of time up there with work in the 2010s, as you say really good place, great nightlife ,and real friendly people, enjoyed my time there
