My thoughts too, albeit not sure I’d go as far as world class! Our full strength team would have struggled against this quality. This team NUFC put out would be very competitive in a EPL game.

 

Humphrys needs to step up.....big time....

 

I think we need to take a reality check Howe has played a stronger starting 11 than he did at Bournemouth on Sunday that's shows how much he wants Newcastle to get through, we conceded the first goal to a player Newcastle paid £40 million for in Joelinton a Brazilian International, as has been said Saturday against Blackpool is the more important game this was always a free hit.

 

It's tricky because players need to play together to build connections but Powell/Humphrys/Pointon is nowhere near the same level as Pointon/Swan/Sarcevic at the moment. Humphrys in particular is just off the pace and holds on to the ball just a bit too long.

 

I dont believe in bending over and accepting defeat before a ball has been kicked. This line up does that.

You can see he started the game thinking he could play against these... but is nowhere near despite wanting to do it all himself.

Obviously with there being no Swan in the squad we were limited to our forward players but if you want high press then Powell and Humphry's are not the two to do it.
