Its practices like this that completely undermine your chances of success as a football club. Short term focus on the P&L rather than longer term planning.

The exact words are “he is involved with the new manager situation at Swindon”. I didn’t know they’d appointed one thought they were recruiting one. My mistake.

Well if we judge him by his first major decision on the unnecessary giving of a new contract to a failing manager then things may well go down hill from here, Its a poor start

Agree with your analysis @Dennis@Dennis. We are where we are and in the cold light of day, it’s been harsh for supporters to stick the boot in on someone who wants to do the best for the club. It seems a little bit similar to the stick James Mason got during the ticket fiasco. He learnt from that and proved to be an excellent CEO of the club.

Let’s give the lad a chance, nothings going to change now the decisions been made. If he recognises the weak areas both on and off the pitch and strengthens with quality, then he might just pull this off. He needs our support now, because the alternative doesn’t bear thinking about.

So age has nothing to do with it. More the level of experience they have? Fair point.

I agree with your last sentence about a DoF. This is needed ASAP.

He has a real opportunity in the near future to show everybody that he doesn't just talk the talk and deserves a chance to prove himself further. The transfer window opens shortly and given the holes in our squad, I'd like to see them plugged early on in the window to get the most value out of the transfers. If it's a repeat of last season when 3 transferees arrived on the last day of the window - Novak from Scunny, Middleton from Rangers and Guthrie from the Dog & Duck (incidentaly all of them surprise recruits to Bowyer who was sacked 24 hrs later) - then it will demonstrate to me that the club under Sparks' direction won't be a lot different to the club during Rhodes' tenure.

Yes Sheridan walked at Wigan after only a few weeks to replace Wellans who is at Salford. Wigan by the way still not sold despite an asking price of £4 mill. Sheridan took Wigan to bottom wouldn't bet against him doing that at Swindon with his track record

Age is a factor, but not crucial in and of itself. Its more about the experience that I think this challenge demands. You’d be very hard pressed to find a 29 year old CEO in many industries, other than someone who’s started their own business from scratch. And any 29 year old CEO with anything like experience of turning around a failing organisation will be rarer still - and where they exist, they’d be in much loftier circles than League 2 football.

I don’t believe this is the case - but where there may be a chink of light in appointing someone so young is that what they lack in experience, they make up for in not being outdated. This club needs a completely different way of thinking and outlook. It needs a visionary. There’s nothing about Ryan Sparks and his employment history to suggest he’s that person. That he’s capable of being the catalyst for the commercial and footballing overhaul this club needs. I think its a simple case of lazy, cheap recruitment. I’ve no doubt that he’s a bright young lad and reasonable with his words. But if we’d instructed a specialist recruitment firm to target the best possible CEO we could attract, never in a million years do they come back with Ryan Sparks. If he were capable of running this club then by implication, he’s been a key leader within the club for a while. So he’s already part of the failing leadership team.

This is a failing organisation. A proper turnaround job. And I think we’ve made a decision that may very well cost this football clubs meaningful existence.

And most 29 year old CEO's would probably either have inherited the company from their Dad or have a shed load of first class degrees in Business Management from Harvard or Yale. Mmmmm is his real name Ryan Rhodes ?

I'm not sure I agree, no players are indispensable at this level, there are plenty good enough for L2 to go around.

Good players are in demand. If our policy is to buy late, the better players will have already gone. Makes it harder to buy your preferred targets - we’ve seen how it plays out. The proof is in the pudding.

It certainly doesn't help when we seem to limit our targets to two or three - our short list should be plenty big enough to account for a few missed signings.

    Never is though, not recently.

In your defence you need to be quick to keep up with this guy. After Chesterfield he went to the Irish Republic with Wateford for 8 games, then Wigan. Don't know how he gets jobs, 11 managerial posts since 2015 and sucked or walked out at most. Having met him once I'm not surprised, nasty piece of work who K suspect falls out easily.

The thing that stands out to me is the BS!

Let's go back to the fans forum not at one point did he say we are not aiming for League 1. Him and McCall said about the Vaughan situation which was BS and at a time when fans are backing the club he with Ifollow passes etc. Now we are 20th and looking rubbish it's all about next season now knowing full well its unlikely we will go down but it will be a case of look what I have done. He is like your standard wide boy thats is only out to highlight what hes done and Bradford City have fallen for it because we have an owner that is one of the worst in our history.

The full accounts - Not happened because that wasn't under his watch. Lets see if that changes now.

Sources close to the deal have informed me that it's £3m and proof of funds for the next two seasons. Their supporter's trust has £800k to hand over once the buyer is in place to the new buyer only needs another £800k and with TV/Solidarity money, they have covered the cash flow for 2 years required by the EFL. And that is excluding ANY other revenue!

And you get a new ground/training facility with a lease costing £150k a year.

According to the Price of Football podcast, The Administrators; Begbies fees already top £1m - something tells me that they will find a buyer :)

Makes you question what City is worth in comparison.

One of the managers I always hated.Always looked like he could cause trouble in an empty room. Not surprised he doesn’t last at any job. Wasn’t there rumours of him fighting players at one club?No justifiable reason for the hatred.Just one of those things.
