    Spot on.

These real ales are niche products - not good business sense on sale at a sporting event, catering for the masses. There is a reason music arenas and sports stadiums all over the country also serve your general 4% lagers and rarely real ales.

Whatever is quick to serve and doesn’t run out by half time is best. With a shorter shelf life, ales aren’t ideal.

We often can’t even get warm food by HT top of Sunwin. I hope the stocks on that are addressed.

Anyone who wonders why we don't do it, just fire an email over to Ryan Sparks. If there was a profit to be made in any way for the club i'm sure he would have already had something implemented. As you allude to mate, real ale is just a niche product, especially amongst the football community. And with the contracts in place it looks like its a non starter anyway.

I think you will find that the club promotes diversity and inclusiveness. For sure, real ale may well appeal to a minority, but it is still a number of supporters.

It really is about thinking ‘outside the box’, other clubs can offer beer, even real ale. I am sure they must have comparable costs……yet they do it.

I agree with you that the Contracts will be in place, but they can be amended and updated.

Just as football has grown and developed from the original concept, then there is no reason that City & @Tiffin Stadium Catering@Tiffin Stadium Catering cant move forward.

I'm guessing the clubs charter for inclusiveness and diversity is aimed at different communities, ethnicities and sexualities as opposed to some blokes drinking Saltaire blonde.

Agreed, the number one reason is ease.

Real ale has a shelf life of about a week once tapped, as discussed in this thread, but even then it can be hit or miss.

Any venue that isn't a regular boozer, like music arenas and sports stadiums, probably can't be bothered with the effort involved.

Beer requires looking after; lager, not so much.

I am sure the charter may well be geared up to promoting different communities. Not sure I mentioned the Charter itself? No reason why blokes and indeed other adults can’t be offered choice if it is possible.
I’m not sure l can add anymore to this thread.

Haha, did he REALLY just use that nonsense because he's upset he can't get a pint of his favourite?

I've read some nonsense on here but @Bigrod@Bigrod is absolutely winning just lately.

I see Barnsley are using Salt Beer factory of Saltaire (35 miles away) where as Bradford don't utilise one of these breweries on their doorstep being 3 miles away.

Was going to post the same link. https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/23323322.salt-beer-factory-opens-bar-barnsley-fcs-oakwell-stadium/?fbclid=IwAR3sZzNH_L-JMsGIInPqtn4TgEvFfWoyYH_Eb3iR8qSZmGtNgtsc5my7DHc

a pop up once a month would be a good gauge for both brewery and club.

Molson Coors pays the club a good amount for sole supplier to the club and unlikely to allow another supplier to supply the club. Having said that Coors has a large stable of real ale breweries in its stable such as Doombar

It'd be quite interesting to know what sort of volumes are sold on match days. Total finger in the air guess but 20% of people buy a beer? So something like 16k attendance, that's 3200 pints. And current market trends would have about 20% of that being cask ale. So that's 640 pints of cask, which is around 9 firkins. 9 firkins which would have to be set up and conditioned for at least three days before that. And 9 firkins which all require cellar temperature, so that probably rules kiosks out. Would need to be a dedicated bar for cask, so that they don't get moved about and needs a stable 12c temperature. So far not looking good is it? Add to the few cancellations we've had recently, and I'd be even more worried about stocking cask ale. In my eyes, it would only really work if it was available in a fixed bar or suite, but then you're cutting the numbers down even more, as not everyone has access to these areas. Best bet, would be to stock some ales in Keykeg. Saltaire have quite a lot of their range for example in this format, and while it's not cask, it's still pretty close in flavour and doesn't get dispensed with gas, so is not as fizzy as a Coors. Also keeps for 3 weeks once opened, so no danger of it going sour if the game is cancelled due to a muddy pitch. But of course it is more expensive to produce and keg than something like Coors, so if the club or third party running the bars are sticking to the same % margins they are for Coors, then it's going to come in a few quid more expensive, which of course gets people moaning. My advice, go to the Dolly or Record Cafe/Sparrpw before/after the match, where they have a superb selection of cask ale kept very well. They'd appreciate the business too.

They can stick doombar where the sun will never shine. Awful beer. An insult to the word cask.
