I'm certainly with you regards Saltaire Brewery Jon.

To a certain extent I agree with you but it is a big step up from Carling and Fosters. Even the Aussies aren't too keen on Fosters.

Real ale only last 4 days if kept around 12 degrees and after that goes off very quickly. You have to sell it every day from 9 gallon casks to make it viable. Lager and cask beers last a few weeks and Cider because of high acidity will last nearly a year if kept cold

I rarely drink in the ground, like to get some real ale in either corn Dolly or fighting *@?$ , but seen as your asking a bottle lager for me would have to be either Stella or Peroni

Open the ground before midday, give out free beer to all and add extra staff so everyone can sink them quicker, VP will be absolutely rocking and we might even see out a game.

I would have thought Burton, since it's Molson Coors, but could be wrong?

The shelf life of real ale can be several months. Of course, once opened and exposed to the air that can change to days.

However, keykeg 'technology', for example, provides a way of significantly extending the life of an 'opened' real ale.

Where there's a will, there's a way. I think most of us, who enjoy real ale, have long since learnt that, at City, there is no will to cater for us and we have adapted accordingly.

Seeing how Sparks operates, if there had been a revenue potential then i think we'd have seen something implemented. Sadly i just don't think there is any real profit in it for the effort concerned. Hence why most get their fix from folk who deal in all week at places like North Parade. Take away fans with their drinks on trains. Never really see them with bottles of real ale, its nearly always lagers and ciders which the majority of fans drink.

As others have said, it's all academic really. Who wants to stand drinking in a cold cheerless aircraft hanger, however good the beer is?
Even the suites at City are totally soulless and unwelcoming. I'll stick to the pub, thanks.

I know York races have had Theakstons Best Bitter on hand-pull and bottles from Ainsteys in the recent past.

Anyone fancy a Bantam Best Bitter?

I'd drink a decent ale at the ground before or after the game to avoid traffic and chat with friends I only see at the game but I won't be drinking the mass marketed dishwater that is traditionally served by the club. I don't understand why the club don't want me there spending my money on food and drink outside of actual game time. My family have had dinner by the time I get home. I'd happily have a curry and a decent pint after the game with friends but nobody at the club seems to want to bother organising such things so I buy them elsewhere.

I might add that Ainstys do these beer boxes.

I can vouch that they generally taste nice as I've had them in the past and can recommend the 20L box of Cool Citra American Pale Ale I have on the go at the moment. It says to drink within 28 days of purchase so any unsold by the club at one game would still be okay to drink a game or two later. I've certainly had them last a few weeks myself and, if anything, thought they tasted nicer for the extra maturing time. A 20 litre box costs £50 and that's about 36 pints. If the club sold ale like this at £5 per pint, they'd make a gross profit of £130 per box. They might not sell loads and loads but real ale like this would improve the match day experience for a fair few fans and make a little extra money for the club.

I once had the misfortune of going to a Leeds game (pre premiership) and they had pre-pulled pints of lager behind the bar to speed up service. I don’t usually bother with a drink at the game for a combination of the previous comments, but the one that puts me off the most are the queues. The whole area needs a re-jig to plan the most efficient way to get service out quicker. As for the beer options, bottled Stella is fine or another guest Belgian beer.

It'll be because unfortunately you're in a minority and it wouldn't generate enough profit.

To be fair to the club they do try and maximize revenues, especially in the suites so if there was enough demand in absolutely certain they'd have at least trialled the idea by now.

Re: bottles in plastics, which is a good point, could you source glass bottles and decant into plastic cups, or is that against stadium rules?

I'm not sure I can think of any real ales that come in plastic bottles!
