What's Neil Harris got to do with City?

 

Agree 100% with this. Issue is with Edin not the new gaffer. We need to get behind him and see what he can get out of the squad. I’m trying to forget that Edin is even there, as hard as that is.

 

Difference being, Harris spent 2yrs working as the Millwall u21 coach before getting his chance. He didn’t just get the job after 12mths working with u18s. Furthermore, he was appointed as a Manager and was able to bring in his own team and players. That’s different to what Collins will be expected to do

 

There is some irony in people calling others stupid whilst making basic spelling errors.

I know, I don’t really understand the lengths people are going to to mug themselves off at the moment. There’s a very big chance that it’s going to be horrible next year but something irrelevant about Neil Harris.

 

Neil Harris was being groomed for the Millwall managerial job. They must have seen something in him while he was still playing that suggested he was going to be a decent manager and they worked a process out towards fulfilling that.

He worked with the under 21s, he was given the caretaker manager role at every opportunity and was clearly been guided so that at one point he'd step in.

If anybody is truly likening that to our situation where our current head coach had only really been considered for the role about 4 days ago following what can fairly be described as some shocking results coaching our 17 year olds then I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

 

Break up what and when. I really hope you aren't talking about the 17/18 squad. As for the 16/17 squad let me remind you

1. McArdle left for the Scunthorpe dollar - more of it and longer, but still missed over a quarter of their league season
2. Marshall wanted to move down south
3. Meredith did similar to McArdle and probably had a contract signed within ten minutes of the playoff final ending
4. Hanson is a crock
5. Billy Clarke - where do you start with him. 67 goals in 344 league matches seems a good point. A record similar to Hanson who got slated week in and week out.

If the 16/17 squad was so good why did we lose in the playoff final to a team that finished below us ?

 

Because that's football.

It is, and that's why sometimes a young ambitious coach with no previous experience of managing at professional level can end up surprising people that had written them off.

 

He has got experience of coaching, at least.

It makes for grim reading, but it's definitely experience.

I wonder how many U18 coaches have ever been promoted to full time club head coach after a poor season?

 

Conversely, how many experienced managers still get jobs after dreadful seasons or getting the sack? Loads of them.
