I'd like us to go back to the back 4. It was consistently solid last year and we have similar personel to make so this year.

The huge, taking hole that was the midfield now looks to be functional so a 4 2 3 1 absolutely looks our best option at present.

Perhaps MH knows about incomings and wants that system to fit them in but without any, there's not a person alive, including Mark Hughes that can convince me that the current set up best fits our squad.

 

I could see it working with the personnel.

Smallwood & McDonald in defensive midfield, with Smith, Pattison and Oduor supporting Cook.

It might be the best option we've got in order to accommodate all of our midfielders.

I don't know if it will happen though.

Our best team by a distance, with what we've got available. Pattison will genuinley support Cook, and both Odour and Smith look mobile enough to give us a pacy threat and provide support to Cook too.

Its probably too obvious and sensible for Hughes though.

 

That middle two are very experienced but lack any sort of pace at all. Apart from that I think it's a good shout.

 

I definitely like the idea of Mcdonald and Smallwood sitting in the middle. I know he's only had a few cameos but I think Mcdonald could be a steady hand that maybe allows Smallwood a bit more freedom.

 

Agree, and I'd like to see a more mobile DM brought in, but with what we've got and Gillead injured, I don't see any better options. Bit disappointed we didn't get to see more of East alongside McDonald. I think he had something, was more mobile and could have benefitted greatly from playing alongside McDonald.

 

In his press match interview on the Morecambe website Adams states that City have had 20 managers in the past 20 years or seasons and he was the 5th longest serving.
He must have had the 5th worst win record as well.

 

That's way too narrow for me and would play into Morecambe's hands.

Let's not forget Adams will set them up as 7-2-1 and just look to prevent anyone passing the ball forwards.

What we need is two players to just sit on either touch line and chuck a load of crosses in. If we try and pass it around they'll just have 10 men behind the ball and watch us pass it sideways, it'll end 0-0 and Hughes will say "point gained against a former league one club, on to the next" or we may lose 1 nil with them scoring on a breakaway.

 

I dreamed that Sparks fired Hughes last night for failing to announce his team by Friday tea time so the could publish it in the match day programme...

I'll book myself in with the psychiatrist on Monday...

It's a fact.

20 managers in 20 years.

Only Bowyer, Stuart, Parkinson, and Todd managed more games prior to Hughes coming in.

It might be humiliating to admit, but he's bang on the money.

It's even more humiliating that some want it to continue in that manner.

 

I think Derek Adams didn't get enough time. No problems with the man.

 

Not knocking his achievements at other clubs but he got more than enough time with us for it to be clear as day he wasn't the right fit for us or us for him.

 

Behave, one of the worst appointments I've seen in 40 odd years of watching.
