Mid-week game form is something we probably need to pick up on if we are to achieve our goals this season. Few too many draws that should have been wins, too many defeats that we should have got something from. In 2023 so far, we've had 10 mid-week league games with 2 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses. Two wins were against at the time a mid-table Tranmere and a 20th placed Gillingham.

A draw and a defeat in the two mid week games so far this season, both games we conceded in the last 10 minutes. Of the 3 defeats in last seasons 2023 games, 2 of the 3 games were again game deciding goals in the final 10 minutes, and the other was the Rochdale game with 2 second half goals. The team have a midweek trend of conceding late on that needs to change.

Yes, Walker has a suspension also. Probably only Osadebe or Pointon that could slide into the 10? I think Pointon would be a more natural 10 that a winger from the limited time we've seen of him so far. He looks far more comfortable with the ball to feet and trying to create something through tight spaces, than say facing up a full back with yards of free space to run into.

East is impressing at Rochdale it seems. Their fans are very happy with the East Clayton partnership, Clayton busting the play up and East being a water carrier just ticking play along.

My dad made the call really. His dad was a rugby fan and used to go watch Northern so it was up to my dad to make his own route into being a football supporter.

After the curry you can go concrete spotting , the town was built at the same time using the currently crumbling aero concrete. Notice how they are keeping this all very hush hush. Harlow another and Stevenage. Enjoy the game because the rest of the time you will be bored to bloody tears. God awful , soulless places.

Confident of a win. We've got a fantastic away record against them, especially in recent times.

Issue with losing Pointon from out wide is on recent evidence, he’s delivery is probably the best. So more emphasis to get Ridealgh and Halliday forward.

I guess it then leaves Oyegoke as the back up CM option.

I still think our weak link is the Osadebe/Wilson/Tulloch/Odour position. None of them have really shone for long periods of a game, but had sporadic moments of input. I’ll be happier when Chapman is back in the side because his technical ability is above those mentioned. He’s also willing to get at the fullback which I think creates havoc in most defences, and could open up more chances in the box than we’re creating at the moment. We still don’t work opposition keepers enough in my opinion.

I think you are underestimating Wilson and Tulloch. I agree they may not have been as consistent as Bobby, but both are prepared to take their full back on, and Wilson is much more willing to have a shot. Ultimately I don't really think Pointon is a wide player in the traditional sense and he might prove even more effective in a more central role.

I agree that Bobby will need to move inside at some point but given we don't have a lot of natural width, and his relationship with Halliday has come on really well, maybe we keep him out wide and bring Tulloch into Walker's role?

Not for me. Pointon is a natural 10 I think. A possibility that Chapman might make the bench tonight. He took part in the warm up on Saturday. I'd give Oyegoke a go too at some point, he looked lively when he came on against Swindon.

My only concern with Pointon as a 10 is he seems a seems a little bit shot shy (just my opinion and might be wrong). He had a great opportunity latish on on Saturday when he was played in on the left side of the box. We were sat right behind him and he was running on goal with only the keeper to beat from maybe 10 yds but he chose to cross it. It looked a great opportunity. Other than that his close skills seem ideally suited. A bit Callum Cooke ish ?

I was right behind that too. He certainly should have shot. It was a very good chance.

I’m sure the coaches will have picked up on that…they have a few more game camera angles to look at I believe.
