Noticed Pennington getting into the space Hamilton wanted to run into stopping him getting round the full back. Great experience shown there.

 

My thoughts.

Really like the look of neufville and Touray was pretty solid too. You can see the experience Wright brings but pace is a worry with any of the 3. Need to tighten up a little better in the middle of the park but we were playing a team from the league above so you expect gaps to show I suppose.

Going forward I think we do have some really good options but no real out and out forward. On tonight's showing Swan looks a tidy player very good touch and that clever outside the foot pass for patto who should have done better was class plus he took his goal very well at end. Oldham will be a test Saturday as they play a similar pressing style to us. Overall though I think we are coming together nicely we just get a few more bodies in. I would also be tempted to give Hunt a deal until Jan at least because of his utility and experience he could bring when required.

 

Need to remember that GA has already explained that he purposefully puts them into these friendlies when they have some fatigue from training and they can get away with it against lower level opposition but it will show up at times against those at the same or higher level.

Friendlies are for also sorting out the partnerships and how to play together. Lets hope the win and the minutes help the boys.

Their passing and movement were a class above but our defending was also good. We won’t face that level of play much in the league. Looks like we are by passing midfield into the channels and then looking to create from there. Walker had some decent kicks tonight down the flanks. Swan looked good. The second goal was from the press. Good nights work all in all.

 

When we had seasons in the upper Kop the system sounded fantastic , have we let the feral pigeons nest in the speaker horns .

I thought four of the starting back five did great, still have me doubts about Byrne, Power in midfield OK but Tommy Leigh for me was poor and Bobby had a quiet game but overall a great work out and result.

 

It's nice to have a look at the new signings and get to know them a bit but yeah we won't learn anything about this team until 2nd August.

 

Yes. Some very slick triangular football from them. We were chasing shadows....but thats top end Championship football and teams with that quality few and far between in L1.

Poor even for pre season that.

Didn't test their keeper at all. Glover made a good save 1st half and Bryn had to make a good double save second half so we had lots of the ball but Bradford created decent chances through the game.

 

Lets hope Byrne is nowhere near the starting XI come the season proper. If he is, we’ve not signed well enough.

 

Decent run out that. Can't read much into a friendly but we looked solid at the back and well drilled overall. Neufville looked class, including defensively, which was good to see
