I don't like it either, it's why I never understood the criticism of Smallwood that he didn't shout enough. Anyone can shout a lot but it doesn't mean you have passion and it's easy to fake it all like these YouTube fan channels do.
It's strange that he's started doing this as looking back through his career he's averaged a yellow card just over 1 in 5 games yet this season he's less than 1 in 3. I can't work out why he's suddenly started it as he's been captain at other clubs, been in promotion chasing seasons and played in front of big crowds at Sunderland, at Sunderland he only got 17 yellows in 137 games.

I think calmly communicating with your team mates is a part of the game I would like to see returning.
Also acknowledging what the individual players are doing and the efforts they are putting in.
Shouting at a referee is ‘like pissing in the wind’, they never change their minds.
When it comes to actually using foul, abusive and even aggressive language, then a booking seems reasonable.
A player in their 30’s should ‘know better’.
If I used that sort of language at work, I would be disciplined, suspended and probably put on a warning.

So....apologies if I have missed it but do we have a definitive answer yet? If Power pics up his 15th yellow before the last match of the regular season, will his suspension carry on into the playoffs

    Yes.

His 3 match ban would start immeiately after the league game in which he received his 15th card and the ban would include the play-off games.

Even if his 15th is in play off semis?

No, Power only needs to avoid having 15 yellow Cards at the End of the regular season 46 games.

Where have you seen that Dennis? It seems to contradict other reports that say the playoffs are classed as a separate competition and therefore suspensions incurred in the normal league fixtures don’t carry into the playoffs.

It came from a friend of a friend who works with the FA. If a 3 match ban has already commenced, having reached 15 yellows in the 'regular' season, it isn't rescinded for the play-offs. The positive side as it was explained to me is that if say Power had 14 yellows at the start of the play-offs, any further yellows during the play-offs don't add to his total. That second point seems to accord with @derrickh100@derrickh100 's post.

Edit Coincidently, episode 36 of the Radio Leeds City podcast discusses this briefly at about 34.40 saying Power must avoid more yellow cards to avoid a ban because he's needed for the play-offs. Have a listen

Once again if “ friends of friends” are advising of the rules , then the rules are an utter shambles?

It’s fairly straightforward if Power picks up his 15th booking at the Exeter game he misses the entire playoffs. If he survives the Exeter game then it’s wiped out and he can get booked in the first leg of the playoffs and not get suspended.

    Agree with you Kevin.
What we really need is for Power to pick up 15 yellow cards by the cut of point, 46 league games then We get the correct outcome from the EFL.

So, if he picks up his 15th yellow at Exeter, getting a second yellow card, turning into a red and a one match ban, is the better option.

So, in that scenario, taking his shirt off, and waving it around his head, when we win a corner in the last minute is the way to go. :joy:

Parker in the T&A talks if Power got to 15 yellows, sounds like he thinks the ban would go into them.

"City’s skipper has clocked up 13 yellow cards this season and has missed three games through suspension. Reaching 15 bookings would mean an automatic three-match ban – which would have massive implications if the Bantams secure their play-off spot for a player who has started every league game when he’s been available."

I just can not see how he would now end up on 15. If he gets a yellow on Saturday and does play against Exeter and picks up a Yellow then surely he takes his shirt off towards the end of the game for something and picks up a second yellow. That way he only gets a one game ban.

second card could be for anything, arguing about a decision etc.

With our luck they would give him a straight red!

If he did that he’d get a four match ban. Three for reaching 15 yellow cards and an extra game for being sent off. I’m sure even Max Power will avoid a yellow card in each of his next two games. Hopefully we qualify on Saturday and we can leave him out at Exeter if required.

normally if you get a red card to be your yellow cards don’t count in your tally as you have already been punished for it
