Max Power on 13 Yellow Cards

I'm totally confused with the rules around yellows this season. Are you saying the slate is wiped clean at the end of match 42? If so, should Power pick up a yellow on Monday and then another next Saturday, wouldn't he be better trying to get himself another and get sent off so it only results in a one match ban rather than 3?

 

99.9% certain there is no match limit for 15 yellows. Though happy to be corrected.

Runs all the way through to seasons end and suspensions would carry over into the playoffs. If/as soon as a spot is confirmed Power should be left out. Know we managed without him a month or so back, but we can't go into the play offs without him.

 

That's correct AB. The yellows also get wiped after the last game too though so if he avoided the suspension there'd be no worries about yellows for the play offs.

 

It doesn't look like yellow card bans are carried over to the play offs, last season Sunderland had a player in a similar position and their local press were saying that the ban doesn't carry over into the play offs. It seems like the play-offs are treated like a seperate competition so yellow card bans don't apply to it but red card bans do.

 

Max Power is on 13 bookings. If he picks up two more in the remaining 6 matches he will be suspended for 3 matches including the playoffs.

Correct! Would be madness if hes suspended for play offs if we beat Wycombe maybe get a couple in following 2 games so hes bk for play offs

I understand why he took the Friday booking, but in hindsight it was avoidable. If I read the rules correctly, he can afford 1x yellow in the remaining 6x league games. We really need to avoid a “Smallwood-like” suspension. Evans is a better replacement than we had last season, but Power is too important to have missing at the crucial time of the season.

Another huge incentive to try gain as many points as possible over the immediate next games and maybe that provides a chance to rest players if have secured a spot.

 

Fridays yellow was pure instinct on the spur of the moment, but given his current position was daft and needless.
Hes got very little room for error now and as has been said, hes someone we can not afford to lose for any of the play off games if we get there.

 

The next two games are huge. 6 point return and we are in a really strong position both from a standings and squad/personnel management prospective. Given his predicament, it’s a time for Power to take another step up as captain and manage himself carefully as the leader of the playing squad.

Too much speculation and “Twitter type” rules going on as I suspected .
One way or another he needs to be wary nevertheless

 

It'd be good if SOMEBODY actually knew the rule....
