I agree I think that is his worst part of his game. Under Hughes he was often caught dithering with the ball playing out from the back. He is a decent reliable defender and I am disappointed he has decided to go but the reason he stated doesn’t make sense

We need more donkeys that get 62 points in 35 league games (81.5 in 46) last season. Don't include the 4 conceded at Notts when he came on at half time with Kelly and it would be 65 points and only 39 conceded in 35 games, I think. That's 85.4 points and 51 goals conceded for a full season. Would anybody not want that next season if offered now? He seems very underappreciated here. No wonder he left.

Disappointed rather than gutted. He's replaceable but would rather have built around him. C'est la vie.

I really wish people would just stop and think before posting statements like this, he is not a donkey but a defender who can get into most L2 teams. He has left for his own reasons and will obviously state he can move on with his career with Notts County. Anyone with a new employer would want to be enthusiastic about this and make such statements.

Very good point. But to add, I always thought there was still something missing and feel that Stubbs departing instead of him - would have been a bigger miss.

Exactly. The reason he's going is nothing to do with their ambition vs ours. If we're so unambitious what is the highly rated David Sharpe (just listen to Nigel Clough on him) doing here.

No. He knows full well that probably Taylor could walk into that woeful Notts County defence, never mind him and that he's have a battle on getting 'guaranteed' starts for us.

I like Platt, but peak Stubbs (who remember is only 25) is better than him and Kelly's not too far behind (particularly as he can play on the left).

Unconvinced that Platt's impressive points per game stats is down to him. Critchlow and Stubbs were better in the 2nd half of last season. And whilst he's perhaps been the best of an inconsistent bunch this season, I'd argue that Oyegoke was better in the recent good run with Kelly not far behind.

Platt's distribution is an issue. However, Notts County have enough footballers and need a good reliable CB. So the move makes sense for both clubs and of course the player.

Real shame - best CB we had on our books.

He was ok. On a par with Stubbs who is still here. He is half decent on the ball, not sure why people think he isn't.

He was ok. I won’t miss those diagonal long passes into touch from him though.
Frees up a spot for a new defender. Then I’ll judge if he’s a loss or not depending on who’s been brought in.

Platt is a solid defender at this level - sorry to see him go. Nice guy too. All the best Matty if you’re reading this.

I have to say, I can't agree with your posts re: Platt and Stubbs.

Platt played all the time, but somehow we won't miss him, Stubbs couldn't get in the team last term and when he did he was poor, but he was a victim of something or other to do with planning?

Seems a strange reworking of reality, mate.

If we're to compare the Bradford City tenures of Matty Platt and Sam Stubbs, it's pretty clear Platt was the better performer overall. I'm sure Stubbs could still slot into a successful back line, but if I'd had the choice of who to move on, it would definitely have been Stubbs - the 25 year old who plays like a 35 year old.
