Mark Hughes - NEW POLL

Does anybody know if he actually applied for the job,or was he approached to see if he was interested.

 

Think you need to understand the club. High profile managers and player were always going to be interested in this job and always will be.

Interesting appointment and I suppose it could go either way.

High profile and good CV for sure but we've had that type before and it's failed.

Big thing to see is if he will be backed as Sparks claims and you would imagine he's had some pretty big assurances to drop to this level.

Some good comments from Blackburn/Stoke fans re style of play and youth development which is promising.

 

I assume DA going back to Morcambe freed up some funds for this

 

Spot on. The cynic in me says this will pull the wool over some people's eyes and is more cosmetic than effective, but the optimist tells me Hughes might just take over the running of the club beyond just being a manager.

I'm clinging to the idea he will be manager/DoF.

 

The nights in the Flying Dutchman on Lumb Lane aged 16 were something else.

Reports say that he expressed an interest in the job and applied, OGF.

 

I’ve followed Blackburn for years alongside City and the team Hughes assembled was a joy to watch. Morten Gamst Pederson, Savage, Tugay, Emerton, Benni McCarthy etc. great days. He took Rovers into EUROPE, so it was no wonder Man City came knocking. He can organise his teams to play very good football alright, when he isn’t polishing turds.

 

I read he approached Sparks. Cant remember where

 

well like everyone else, i did not see that coming. He is certainly a big name in football. will it work, who knows but lets all get down to Valley parade and get behind Mark and the players and show him he made the right decision in becoming our manager and that we are not just a bunch of whinger's who want every manager sacked after a few games.
We are rock bottom , but this could be the guy to get us moving in the right direction. I am actually quite pleased at this appointment.

 

He's certainly got himself a challenge.

Would that we had players of that quality here.

It doesn't really matter if we believe that statement, it's a case of if the club delivers on it for Mark Hughes, if the club doesn't deliver on those promises I should imagine he will have something to say about it.

 

Well I thought Derek Adams was a superb appointment so what do I know? This is certainly, as many have said, a ( as the Americans would say) left field appointment. Maybe it will work, I hope so. Good Luck to him and to Bradford City. The Mansfield Town match has certainly become more interesting/
