If GA bins the 3-2-1-2-21-2-2- whatever it is and goes 4-4 fing 2 then I think at last look Hakeeb Adelakun is still a free agent..... And maybe we could recall Wilson?

All part and parcel of posting on a forum mate some see the likes of Pep and many more managers having their teams play out from the back and because Alexander prefers wing backs some dismiss 4-4-2 as dinosaur football, you might get caught occasionally and I personally wouldn't say it is the formation we should play every game but after last night and Saturdays second half performance he needs to have a serious look at what his players are comfortable playing.

Adelakun signed for Salford and has 2 goals in 2 games. Would have been a great signing.

Of course he is a winger. We signed him as a winger when he first arrived on loan with Pereira. If someone plays to the left or right of the midfield and continuously whip balls in for the attackers, than I class them as a winger. If you watch him, it is in his nature to want to press forward down the left wing. Yes that leaves the left side of defence exposed, but it is what it is

We played well last night, hopefully we give this formation a try and don't go straight back to 3 at the back at the weekend. Personally I think 433 would be better to utilise the quality in midfield we have, but at least 442 will leave Smallwood less isolated. Our wing backs, aren't great wing backs and CB is a weak spot, so for me 3 at the back isn't going to bring us success.

Could definitely play Walker on a wing if needed. Square into round etc, but Jamie is a different beast of a player and is one of those who would do you a job anywhere on the pitch (like Gilly)

Excellent performance last night. Pattison was excellent and was the standout performer. Also impressed with Lewis Richards, Jack Shepherd and Cheik Diabate. They were the 4 best players on the pitch for me. Also a nod to Jay Benn and Bobby Pointon who had good games too.

Agree with all that, but if a winger "continuously whips balls in for the atrackers" then maybe Wright isn’t one after all :)

To be fair, he is our joint top assist with Walker, and I would bet he's floated more crosses in this season than any other player we have?

That ball he put in for Cooks goal last week was sublime

I'll give you that one, but watching the matches he doesn't appear prolific at whipping balls into the box.
I only saw the last few minutes of lasts nights game but Richards hit a peach of a cross too. Don't know how he did the rest of the game

This is the thing with GA and his formation I guess. I've never liked the modern so-called pragmatic approach of playing out from the back, the 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 or whatever it is. I find it very frustrating and somewhat boring

Call me out of date or old fashioned, clueless even, but I would love to see us continue with a 4-4-2 like last night, using Richards at LB and Wright as the left MF/winger, with either Sanderson or Oliver partnering Cook up front. I just find it more entertaining and more effective. We will then see Wright as the player who first came on loan

    just watched the highlights.
We played some good stuff, scored good goals and all this with only 36% of the ball in our use.
Created over twice as many chances as them, nine on target to their one and ten corners to four.
And before anyone bleats, it was their second string, it was ours and their second string are players from a league above ours, just.
This bodes well for me. Saturday was a touch unlucky, losing 2 of your centre halves by half time, the penalty looked iffy, maybe why the ref did not award one slightly later and if Odour had got on the end of the cross second half, we might have had a point, which everyone would have thought to be good, given the match circumstances.
Onwards and upwards, roll on Saturday, my first game for a month.

We've got players to play multiple formations.
We should be fluid in the way we set up.
It makes for outwitting the opposition.
I hope GA is brave enough in the future to keep changing it up.

I expect he'll be given a few more Trophy matches, and possibly a low key League Two fixture later in the season and, if he carries on like last night, then I'm sure he'll be moved onto the EFL list next season.
