He definitely ain't stupid but I've seen enough stubborn managers over the years at VP to know to wait till Saturday for the team line up. Like you I expect he'll stick with a back 4.

Who saw that result coming. Some great play and finishing to boot

It’s the bloody inconsistency that kills you season after season. Are we gonna simply revert to being disjointed and frustrating again on Saturday? Or will we raise our game to match a decent team?

If we play a system the players are comfortable with, and this seemed to suit them better, you have a fighting chance. That is going to be important on Saturday against a team who will be confident having had a good start and also just turned over everyone's tip to go up (not mine).

Steady on, there’s some people on here that insist 4-4-2 is for dinosaurs.
I know I’ll get slaughtered if I’m wrong but I’m sure @WilsdenBantam@WilsdenBantam is one on them. lol.

Got 7 out of 8 tonight. Thanks Bradford! I’ll take a loss if it means we win

Let’s not all make love just yet. We beat a L1 teams under 8s with our under 9s. A loss on Sat will bring you all back to reality

Just a little comment, after (with some justification) slaughtering the ref on Saturday I hope GA makes a point of praising tonights ref. Important not to piss some of the tinpot Hitlers off!

To be fair there were a couple of occasions where a booking would have been completely justified but he let the game flow, he let the defenders and attackers use a bit of physicality but he was in control without any fuss.

Well done ref and hope we see you again

I enjoyed the match, mainly because we looked to get on the front foot for the full 90. This was players playing in their natural roles, and look what they served up. Well done to all the players, Pattison and Diabate were outstanding. Like a few others I said last season and the season before, we should play 442 and more especially when you have new players in the team. Football players have played this system ever since they first kicked a ball, so everyone knows what they are doing.
I don’t think we should use it every match, but nothing wrong with using it when it fits with the players we have.
I don’t know the name of the referee, but he too was outstanding the best I have seen. He actually reffed that match so you hardly noticed him. Once the players realised falling down for nothing was getting you nowhere it stopped and made for a much better match to watch.

GA has a real headache now, is he going to go with what fits our availability or try and play a 3 at the back system?

    No. He isn't a winger.

He, like hundreds of kids in the football system these days, are accustomed to playing as a "wide forward", one of the "wider advanced midfield players" in the 4-2-3-1 formation that England has determined is the future and has everyone playing at the various grass roots level.

He could become a winger, he could become a wing back, but it will take time, because he needs to learn those roles.

He's done OK going forwards this season but has not got back quickly enough to support his defence. Compare him to the wingers at Arsenal. They sprint back to support the defence. Not that they're good at defending but just being there is enough many times.

If he isn't a winger then I don't know what he is. Certainly not a wing back. Regardless of what GA is trying to make him into, he naturally plays a wider role than the 2 other players you mentioned
