Listening to Hopkin's post match interview he sounds so deflated it would'nt surprise me if he walked!

    Me neither
He has a reputation to protect with back to back promotions albeit in Scotland
He won't want relegation in only his 3rd managerial season blotting his CV

Surely he'll have had some realisation of what he was taking on. He needs to hang in till January. We have of games coming up against sides that even we are able to take points from.

I don't have Hopkin down as a quitter. He knew what he was taking on, and I have faith in him to stick around and do a 'Parky'

So long as the efforts there, there's not much point laying into the players after every defeat - because we're going to have plenty between now and Jan.

We have a handful of good players but plenty of shite ones. Throw into the mix a terrible pre season that left them short of fitness and tactical organisation, and the destruction of confidence that comes with it all, we are where we are.

Only one man is responsible for where we are. He needs to be ready to get the cheque book out in January and hope it isn't too late.

The next few weeks won't be pretty and could well be horrible. For now, all we can hope is that Hopkin improves their fitness and resilience and we grind out a few points. We face the likes of Wimbledon, Accrington, Oldham and Bristol over the next month or so. We need to find a way to get a couple of wins from that lot.

Agree with the first part of the post. Made yourself look a bit of a tool with the Hanson comment (wtf does it have to do with the topic?).

Couldn't care less about the Oldham game. But yes,the Bristol Rov and Wimbledon games are the ones on the horizon that we must be aiming for at least 4 points

Totally agree, I didn't suggest it was down to Hopkin. It's down to the transfer committee not identifying and bringing in the correct targets and we all know who the ever present duo of that particular group is.

Disagree, it was absolutely connected to the point of people not being able to see what's in front of them and make a sound judgement. Many to the point of ridiculing the posters that have, over time, been proved correct. (See Hanson).

All I'm saying northern, is that the Hanson subject is a different topic for debate. For example, I have had a bad feeling about he owners for a long while.... but I also think Hanson did a job for us when he was here. Especially in league 2 with wells. All allowed different opinions. To be honest I hope that the current owners turn it around, but it doesn't seem likely.

You're missing the point but regarding your last comment about the owners, I honestly think it's almost gone too far already to really trust them again.

He may have been given the choice we can afford new players or new coaching staff. Or told we can’t afford to get rid of Abbot and Drury. Can’t see any other reason he hasn’t brought in his own coaching staff

A DoF could make the situation worse. You saw in Collins games there was no clear defined style. For a DoF to work first of all you pretty much have to get rid of having a manager, their job isn't to manage, it's to coach the team in the chosen style and pick an 11. Is Hopkin style the style that City want to adopt from top to bottom from now on or is Hopkin the type of person who is happy having a style dictated to him? Without a defined style and the manager having a say in players then a DoF is working in a setup that they simply can't be effective, he has to be reactionary and not trying to put some long-term structure in place.

That seems to be the biggest issue with Bradford right now as far as I can see. There is no clear structure which means while not meaning to all the parts of the club are pulling in different directions as there seems to be part a DoF structure and part a traditional manager led structure

It can sometimes be a mistake to make wholesale changes to the coaching staff as you lose insight into the club. At United, the biggest mistake Moyes made was removing pretty much every single one of Fergies backroom team and bringing in his own, it should have been a process of bringing in some of his and mixing it with the existing setup. For Hopkin he has it even worse, he came in part way through the season so wouldn't even have time over preseason for him to get an understanding of his squad and the levels below the first team. Abbot and Drury will give him that insight for this season putting him in a better position to overhaul the coaching setup with more of his choices in the summer

Also perhaps the ones he would have wanted to bring in simply aren't available. I would assume most of his previous backroom team either stayed on at Livingston or had found new jobs by the time he was appointed so he may be happy keeping the existing people around until his prefered choices are available

Just how many employees does Edin need to sack to get everyone behind his model/vision, surely the easiest thing would be for Edin to butt out of football maters and give Hopkin 100% control to pick his backroom staff (if changes need making) and to target players he wants in the transfer window, given we as a club can afford them, there you are piece of p**s this football lark.
