Match Thread Live streamed game v Brentford B today

I would have liked to have seen more from the lads, but I wouldn't want to use any space for those playing today.

 

Thats because they already know their fate. No one is busting their arse in a behind closed doors friendly. Those that know they are leaving will already be on the beach in their head.

Only watched a bit. Did Staunton show any ‘technical’ ability like playing out from the back? It might be Brentford or someone would still pump for him-the old playing better in a better team

 

The thing here is that most of these are on their way out of the club , so not going to risk injury .
The game is probably so we can look at the keeper and they can look at Staunton who has been linked to them in the past.
Other than that , nothing else to be seen here.

 

Watched a bit,very much like a pre season friendly,no one making tackles,and not much pace in the game.

 

I think another reason was so that the fans could show their appreciation and say goodbye to the departing players. Nice to see them get such an excellent turnout.

 

I guess there is some benefit to this game but not sure what it is. It won't make a difference to what a club will do in terms of keeping or letting players go, if Brentford for some reason we're interested in the likes of Staunton a closed doors friendly ain't gonna make any difference to a clubs decision.

Brentford prefer to play friendlies instead of been in a reserve league so as they were up here anyway they may have approached us for a game

I only saw the last 30 mins and we were second rate , mainly because they were mostly kids, however the ones in the main squad expected to “ stand out”…. didn’t, except Kellherer who didn’t do anything wrong that I could see. ( The camera settings were too wide to really see who was who if I were to be honest) . Pointless…. not really if you look at it from MH’s viewpoint?

 

Does anyone actually know the reason for todays game? Is it a coincidence that this unusual game takes place shortly after our new head of recruitment walks through the door.

? Let’s face it non of those playing won’t be playing Saturday so the nucleus left are fringe players or mostly ( but not all of course) out of contract?

 

Didn't get chance to see any of it but from what you say Kevin non of our league winning youth team seems to have stood out at all which is a shame - shows the gulf they have to bridge if they are to progress.
