Yes that is what I posted and what you have subsequently misinterpreted. Not talking about assists - talking about link up and hold play and ability to get to the ball. It's purely hypothetical but I wager a player more capable, or even just capable at all, in those departments, would have helped us score more overall through helping the side to transition, despite a lower goal tally himself.

My admitting other players are also not up to auto promotion doesn't negate that view.

I'll give you the fact that Cook has surprised me with his tally to date and closed season I was praying he was nowhere near the starting 11. Unfortunately, Oliver has turned out to be inept to date and couldn't keep his place at the start of the season.

Is Cook undroppable - unfortunately it seems so. Will he score another 16 / 10 / 8 - perhaps if we get some penalties.

There you go - set myself up for some quoting nightmares in coming weeks

We are poor against a good 4-3-3.

With the right players , depending where the ball is, the oppo has 6 midfielders or 7 defenders

Cook is a problem though because it’s like playing with 10 men.

He doesn’t work the defenders, doesn’t create, doesn’t bring others into play.

Yes, he’s scored some important goals but boy he’s a poor player.

 

2 pens that would have been given on another day. Adding only 4 mins on at the end was poor. It didn’t matter by the way. The irritability of them kicking the ball away at free kicks went completely unchecked.

How many of their side got yellows?

What I can't get my head around is that when Hughes first came into the club, the atmosphere and football dramatically changed - all within one week.
The football was good, we saw attacking, entertaining football. We could all see the immediate impact that he made. It was a pleasure to go to VP again.

Now.........for some reason Hughes seems to think that he can play Premiership stuff when at home. This boring tippy tappy stuff that bores the pants off us all (well me at least!).
Teams now know how to play against us when at home, as results have proved, and as such it is becoming very hard to get enthusiastic about going to the match.

It appears as if Hughes is now of the opinion that he is untouchable because of who he is.
I really hope that I am totally wrong here but surely someone else can see the difference in play - if so, why has it changed??

I thought that the tackle on Wright, after 8 mins, was a definite penalty and how the hell Cook didn't put the ball in the net from close range from Smallwood's free kick is an absolute embarrassment.

 

Not with a centre forward who can’t hold up the ball, scoring goals no question but seldom Angol, Oliver nor Cook brings others into the game.

 

I hope Sparky is watching the Dutch V USA.

The Dutch send the opposition, commentators and crowd into a coma, then when you wake up they have broken away and scored. Jeeze awful, awful football.

 

Either way mate the fans deserve much more than there getting, things must change and quickly!

 

Hughes needs to go, He's a Premier league manager not league 2, these player's aren't good enough to play the way he wants.

 

I’m a long way from ‘Hughes Out’. But I’m definitely ‘Hughes wise up and adapt because it ain’t working’.

Seriously deluded...Hughes doesn't think orient and Northampton are better than us.

Also him saying players gave it a go...ffs that's the minimum you would expect them to do

 

5th in the league with 78 points to play for and only 6 off the top 3 and we will no doubt strengthen in Jan. far more positives than negatives for me. We were never walking the league.
