    I wish I shared your optimism...

    Agree he was a good player in his day but judging by his recent track record and what Scunthorpe fans have to say about him he appears to be a player well on the decline.

    Dig up Novak's stats all you want but Doyle had been prolific at 1 club and shit at his other 6 when we signed him. He started scoring for fun at Swindon which no one saw coming. Looking at Doyle's record he only seems to score at tinpot clubs.

    I'm not unhappy with this signing and don't care if Scunny fans are laughing, we were laughing when we loaned out Doyle.

    Other than Swindon, no-one is signing anyone any better

    In fairness, if we did get Agard that would be pretty impressive and I think we'd have a better and more mobile strikeforce than we did prior when Doyle and Vaughan were here

    A big "if" though!! I can't see it happening. His wages will be in the £8-10K bracket. Unless Oteh is going back and we get him on loan and agree a 50/50

    I'm not old enough to remember, but how did transfer deadline day work before Sky Sports News and the internet?

    Teletext and the paper?

    How did everybody look up stats and watch clips of past goals so as to be able to tell their mates in the pub how sh*te a signing it was?

    Our own fans used to laugh at Hanson but he was capable of doing a job for us.

    His sort of player (target man) ALWAYS get chastised because fans think they are crap unless they knock in 20 goals. In the time I've supported City some of the target men I can recall are Mills, Ward, Cooke, Conlon, Hanson and with the exception of Mills, who played in a very good City side, all the rest got bombarded with criticism on the message boards.
