Did he play for Wigan when Sharpe was chairman?

Absolutely. Both Vaughan and Doyle were played in roles that didn't suit their strengths at all. It's criminal how badly we wasted those two class players.
And Donaldson, whose best days as a no 9 were clearly behind him, was binned off just after he'd had a couple of excellent performances as a no 10. He must have shown those qualities in training so why wait so long to use them in a league match? And why get rid of him just as he was playing well in a new role? Totally perplexing.

I liked Vaughan. But like so many of our attacking players, he was repeatedly played out of position and asked to play a role not suited to him. You could see the will to live being drained out of him each week. The same is now happening to Humphrys. Why do we do it so much?

I think it was even worse with Doyle than Vaughan. The guy was a superb goal poaching fox in the box - a lower league Lineker. Watching him being played as a back to goal target man for match after match was totally dispiriting and must have been far worse for him. Utterly baffling management. Mind you, GA’s use of Humphrys as a no 9 isn’t much better.

At what point does Alexander admit he's got that one wrong?

Given that the captain is the only player who is supposed to interact with the referee, I wouldn't want to see any goalkeeper get the captaincy.

    From the T&A :

But chief executive Ryan Sparks confirmed that there are incentives in place for the 31-year-old to stay with City next season.

Sparks told the T&A: “If Lee starts a certain amount of games and we finish in a certain area of the table, there is a chance for him to continue his time with us.

“But we also have an option in our favour should we wish to continue it. It’s a great opportunity for both parties.

“He’s a player from before my time at Valley Parade but highly thought of by my predecessors that I’ve spoken to.

“Lee worked with David (Sharpe) as well at Wigan, so there are multiple people around me who are very confident that he’s going to come and fit right into the way we are.

“I’ve not met him myself yet but I’m sure I will do tomorrow. He seems a top guy and very excited about the prospect of getting right amongst it with us.”

Evans, who played 42 times on loan under Phil Parkinson in League One in 2015/16, was confirmed in a busy end to the window.

I think the Donny team, and several others, need an education on this, then.

I watched Luton Blackpool game last Sat and Evans was outstanding - had I not watched that I might be less enthusiastic but there was much to like - strong running good distribution and tackling good positional sense in a weak team being pretty much otherwise over-run - he rally impressed
