We need a core of players that should we get promoted can hold their own at the level above, as we saw last time we got promoted you can’t simply bring in 11 new players upon promotion. Players of that ability would be a big plus to making sure we could keep the core together ala Luton.

Potentially keeping Pereira, too, who is a mercurial talent.

We do need to grab a few goals from midfield, too, because out of Watt, Cooke, Evans, Gilliead and Sutton, we have a combined 9 league goals.

That's 2 a piece aside from Evans who only got 1.

The fact Songo'o has out-scored all those midfielders is embarrassing.

I feel the biggest 'dilemma' of our summer. We need 'better'. Sum of the parts?

I could be criticised here but Angol & Gilliead could be part of our matchday squad. The rightful thought, would be to doubt these 2 as part of a 'Promotion pushing' squad

Yeah, it's dangerous to think too much of the players we've got, because you can make a case for several of them to stay - but it doesn't change that we've just a disastrous season, and we need to get better in there.

    We can't be complacent.

If we do keep pretty much an XI from this season, we need to make sure the competition for them has the potential to outperform them.

Gillead shouldn't be part of ANY football league squad. I can't even tell you what position is his most effective. Technically he's not a bad footballer but for some reason, out on the pitch he just offers very little in terms of important contributions and seemingly just drifts through the games.

Well I think I see where Park is coming from but certainly no out and out goalscorer doesn’t give me the same confidence .

No not necessarily with another goal scorer that is a good forward line however at least one of these is likely not to be here

The guy who works for City who does the press interviews always sounds bored to tears to me.

You may be right but history shows your thinking is wrong. Year on year regression. Thank you

Fillipe Morais made a good point recently on an iFollow commentary. He said that players in Pereira's position tend to be amongst the highest earners in a squad. Therefore they have to deliver in terms of goal assists and goals scored or they are a luxury that most clubs, and certainly us, can't afford.

I love watching Pereira - he is so skilful. But would he deliver the goals and assists to justify his place/cost? Abo Eisa scored 14 goals in 67 appearances for a terrible Scunny side - that's a 1:1.5 goal ratio from a winger, plus any assists he made, which I don't know the stats for. Would Pereira deliver at that rate? I somehow doubt it

Yep, that's correct, and somewhat of a concern - however he does ensure we retain the ball in attacking positions very well. Whether that leads to an assist from a full back or whatnot, I think we need a greater sample size.

Honestly, I'm 50-50, but if we signed him he'd need to be surrounded by lads who can put the ball in the net.

    My problem with Eisa

We haven’t seen enough of him
What we have seen, he doesn’t track back, and doesn’t care for a tackle.

    I just can’t form an opinion…

Fair comment. But he did score goals from the wing for Scunny, more than any of our attacking midfielders have.

Please behave yourself. Decent squad players but nowhere near the top front 3 in L2. Ludicrous to suggest so.

It's strange what one 45 minute performance does to the mind. A lot on here seem happy to forget the previous 44 games!

I think it's 6 wins, 8 draws, 3 defeats across all league games where Angol was involved.

That would mean that despite only playing 17 times, Angol has been involved in 6 of our 13 wins, 8 of our 16 draws, and 3 of our 16 defeats.

    As a percentage:

Involved in 46 % of our wins
Involved in 50 % of our draws
Involved in 18 % of our defeats
