If true @Park bantam@Park bantam will be upset, but it would certainly be a major change in their model, sense prevails.

sam has left the club as another has said. rumour is rupp took advice from grayson on the way the club should be run. rahic is not well pleased as it was what he has put a lot of time and effort into. it was his dream on the way forward. think the scouting system will be changed also. basically funds forecasted for the future year could not support the way the club was being run. I feel a bit hollow as if all rumours are true regarding finances then we are the next coventry city in the making.

It has been posted on here many many times and the posters have been called trouble makers, get ready for you being bracketed the same, or divulge your sourse.

On that last part how do we know a new head coach is not in negotiation now and demanding this before he signs?

Can only be a good thing. Until the owners are willing to fund this from their own pockets or find outside investment, a development squad is a no go.

Right bunch of fannies you lot.

    Club - creates development squad
Fans - what's the point, waste of money, spend it on the first team

Club - states it has learned its lessons, scraps the development team
Fans - wah wah, the club is doomed, why are owners changing their long term plans

Ffs..... Can't do right for doing wrong, can they?

Yes i have heard very similar which is the u 23 is going to be watered down and all available finances directed to the first team budget etc hence why i kept on saying things were getting better and that the budget was going to be higher than last seasons.
We dont need a u23 dev squad we just need some decent scouts spot a up and coming star and play them in the youths/checkatrade and or fadt track them to the first team squad.
I was lead to believe it was costing near 300k to run that side of it.thats a hell of alot of money to come out of what comes in just to try and find that magic player or two.
Othet things are happening and will be released as and when they can i suppose.
Expecting retain list today too we shall see..

Hurray, I so hope this is true!

I'll assume it isn't until its confirmed though.

No point getting our hopes up that sense has prevailed when many other rumoured improvements failed to materialise.

I won't knock the above, D b ........ My concern is for the 18 to 21 age group. Great if we can loan them out, but the product would need to be attractive enough. We saw last season, a few were loaned out, but most made limited appearances. I agree it's costly, for our level without additional funding, thus my point at scaling it down. As both @Park bantam@Park bantam and I suggested a few days ago - Perhaps City could place some more energy into trying to source a sponsor/s for such a project ? :)

Glad we're getting rid of the development squad If true. It's a wasteful pie in the sky idea.

Only slight concern is what turmoil this will cause behind the scenes. The development of the premiership cast offs seemed to be the whole reason Rahic wanted to own a club and Rupp seemed to have little interest. If Rahic isn't on board with this change then are we going to see a split?

What exposure would a sponsor get and how much do you reckon it would be worth?

Difference with Coventry and us is that they had plenty of building and land assests to sell.. we don't

Firstly Aaron ........ Hand on Heart I confess to knowing next to little about either Marketing or the mechanics of Sponsorship (I guess that's why I'm a tech Engineer ;) ) However, there must be some value in it, or no one would ever look into it ? I DO know one thing ...... About 30 years ago, the Club I represented had a few sponsors, and the Major one was worth just over £10k pa ........... About average for that level, at that time.

I've no problem with a development squad, but only if it doesn't effect the first team budget which it clearly has. So this gets a good news from me, Rupp is the money man he needs to put his foot down.

I'd probably go with an under 21 team, with the view to loan players out, it didn't do McBurnie any harm going to Chester and Bristol Rovers, i'd say it helps a players development far more than playing reserve games.

I'm very concerned we still own the kettle and toaster, I saw Rahic going into cash converters this morning. I fear our assets are being stripped.:(

Sponsoring the club with 15k fans, media coverage and the occasional tv appearance is one thing. Sponsoring a development squad that might be seen by 1,000 over the course of a year is quite another. If they're talking about the squad costing £300k a year how are we ever going to make a dent in that?
