Alan Clarke at Leeds was hardly known for his work rate but give him the ball in or around the box and he scored for fun, whist Mick Jones did all the hard work.

Of course it does. So shouldn’t a team like Bradford who doesn’t have that luxury have everyone chipping in? Do you think we can afford someone who will hardly do anything but score the odd tap in and penalty? And if your answer is no what did Doyle do extra for us to get Bradford City fans suddenly defending him?

 

Don't have anything to add to the debate other than if he gets a decent tally by Christmas, might improve our chances of getting a fee for him in the window. And not necessarily Swindon.

 

I thought Doyle got criticised OTT but it was the right move to let him go to Swindon - for all concerned.

It just doesnt happen for some players at some clubs.

As fans all we see is 90 mins on the pitch on a Sat but we don’t see what happens in the other 10,000 mins each week

Mythical situations here, but what if a players kids aren’t settled in the local school or the wife is isolated and not happy in a new area? The wags can put pressure on players. What if it weighs on his mind in training and he goes home to an unsettled home environment? What if he’s homesick himself?

What if the dressing room is full of pillocks and you just don’t click with the right lads similar to you when you are training?

What if the chairman is an interferring maniac and unsettles training and make you question why you signed? What if the manager in place when you signed lasted a month?

Its not as simple as saying ‘if we’d played 4-4-2 Doyle would now be banging them in’ etc.

We didn’t help him with our set up, no, but he was on too much to warm the bench and we needed him gone.
