I've said this countless times. The two crucial positions in the system we play are the no. 10 and the lone striker. Our no. 10 is injured and we have no backup and we have no one to play the lone striker role, except perhaps Angol. Cook is on an excellent scoring run but he's not a lone striker. Ditto Chapman. I know we're all optimistic but these glaring gaps in our recruitment baffle me.

It would be interesting to know who we missed out on.... genuinely missed out on and not the rumours bandied about on here

    Absolutely wrong.

We have plenty of cover for 10, Oliver and Harratt can cover Cook.

Whether this cover is good enough is a different matter altogether, but to suggest we don’t have cover is wrong .

We've plenty of people we can put on the pitch but not anyone whose natural game is to play in those crucial roles. In my opinion, that's why we're misfiring and not getting the best out of the very good players we have. Just what I think. No big deal.

Here you go Wilsden, a rare thing online. A poster who has been convinced by your argument. I take on board your support of Chapman and I think I was wrong. Here' s hoping he plays a blinder for us during the rest of the season. Would bloody love that.

Couldn't agree more Dubois. Kevin's post is total nonsense. Can't wait for Jamie Walker to come back , he is one star player, Eisa will be a great addition too. But in the meanwhile, we have Wright, Pereira, Young, Banks, Gillead, Sutton behind our full-on forwards. Can anyone name another team in L2 who have such a cornucopia?

If my post is nonsense you must think Mark Hughes is useless, because he plays these players in the positions I referred to. Perhaps I’m smarter than I thought ;) and your comment, the jury is out ( in the cold)

Don’t blame him tbh. We had Walker, Eisa, Osadebe out with injury & Wright away on international duty an Periera started despite just coming back from injury himself (He didn’t look 100% either)

We then took Banks & Periera off, an put Angol on an Sutton who is a CM by nature. Like surely, if there was a game where Young and/or Harratt would be utilised, it was todays

Maybe it's an attitude issue. Looks like he's been frozen out. My gut tells me Hughes is experienced enough to detect a bad smell in training.

To add to the attitude comments. Watch back the pre-season content on the socials and he did come across as a bit of a n0b in many videos

Seriously ..you think a players parent warrants input … Harratt ain’t 12! If my parent did that to me at his age I’d curl up in a ball . Carry on like this and I’d send him back. Let the manager do his job…That’s what we pay him for.

Thing with Harratt is he clearly has something about him but he has to play in a front two and we don't and won't play like that from the start. I'd suggest that if he's unhappy, he should've done his research before he came here.

It's all well and good building at rapport with fans, but signing autographs and having selfies with the front row with 15 mins to go while the rest of the subs are warming up may not help

If that was the case why would he be in the matchday squad each week and why wouldn't we just end the loan?

That's a fair point. There could be many reasons. Maybe Hughes feels he can get the best out of him in time.

Send him back. He will go back ASAP I would have thought.

He has a bit of a swagger about him that, if harnessed, will give him an edge on the pitch.

Equally, and i have no basis for this other than guessing having seen video content from training the club put out, I can see how that swagger could be misconstrued as an iffy attitude if he’s sulked a bit in training. Doesnt come across as one who’d hide his frustrations.

Must be frustrating for the lad - I fully sympathise. Scored goals in a good Port Vale side and come on loan for gametime in a lesser side, but, crucially, one who are insistent on playing 4-2-3-1.

Hughes will win the argument so he’ll have to ask Hudds to cut short the loan in Jan?

Oliver is also begging for gametime but is our man on a three year deal so is a more obvious man for the Cook rotation subs than a loanee, even before physical stature is considered.

As Kev says it’s embarrassing for the lad, or it should be. I wouldn’t be happy with my parents if they made such a comment, I understand football is different to a normal job but still act professional and carry on.

I think he’s a decent player who doesn’t fit our system. If not for a loan window he’d have probably gone back by now, both parties should have realised it wasn’t an ideal match with the way we play.
