With this policy you often only need one diamond in ten, provided say six of the others aren't total duds

I've still to be told what the other way is. It's as though there are blatantly better solutions. It would be good for the skeptics to tell us what they are - besides expect an owner to take an even bigger financial risk

 

This is me exactly. One swallow doesn't make a summer but this was a quality signing imo.

 

Good signing by the board! Ive been critcal just like alot of city fans but after listening to the bantams banter podcast edin won me over, were not going to compete with sunderland or the other teams that come down however weve got to be shrewd in what we do buy e.g hudds, burnley and cardiff

Gareth Evans played something like 30 matches for Portsmouth last season, who ended above us. So clearly, considering we bought him in L2 he's turned out OK

Riley's attribute stats are very good. Better than what we've got at present and up there with Meredith. Yes. that's all theory, but is widely used for numerous clubs (too much in my opinion)

But of course, if can he do it on a rainy January at Wimbledon. We'll see

It would be highly unlikely there would be buyback clause. We would owe them compensation if Man Utd offered him a deal as he is under 24, if they did they we will owe them a compensation fee plus a sell on clause. Only way a buyback would be if we agreeing to one to reduce what compensation Man Utd asked for but that is very rare.

Amazing, that those who've been so vocal in their attacks of the current regime, get overtly sensitive so easily. I think it reflects the mood and the lack of perspective some have

To me signings like Riley are not a shock. I don't think the new regime have been that bad with their signings (yes we can always name one, but so can every club) we've just had a less than desired outcome.

I am genuinely surprised about how many are surprised on here that we'd get someone like Riley, when clubs like Sheff U were sniffing around, because there has been no indication that we are dumbing down. Just an assumption and I remember what my late Mum said about ASS-U-MEing !!

 

Got to Congratulate the club with this one. Looks a great signing on paper. Hopefully show some class next season. A couple more signing like this and the season ticket bailers might return with their tail between their legs.

 

I don't get the relevance of where he's come from. If we'd signed him from Macclesfield I'd feel the same about him, because he is a very good player -all his stats say so

But yes, it's what he does in our jersey that counts. Can he push himself further, when we're up against it, etc

 

Kelvin Mellor is still a Blackpool player he hasn't signed for anyone Wigan and Blackburn are watching him.

 

As for the sell on clause touted about it might be case of utd getting first refusal should we wish to sell him.
