I'd like to see that. Odour LWB, Pointon in for Kav. Sarce might have to drop a bit deeper but that'd be a good suplly line for Cooky

Was hoping this midfield signing was going to be competition/cover for Smallwood. Doesn't sounds like that’s his game though. Makes little sense and we still seem short if Smallwood gets injured.

 

Wasn't the last player we had from Wigan Crankshaw? Hope Adams is an upgrade on him.

 

Smallwood and Halliday still need cover.

Wright and Oduor are a bit too similar for my tastes, and while Oliver is out of favour he's at least cover for Cook.

But Smallwood and Halliday have nothing behind them.

 

4 goals and 4 assists from the equivalent of 20 full games are impressive stats for a midfielder, especially for a 19 year old playing his first full season as a professional. Him and Walker played a pivotal role in last season’s resurgence where we won 6 out of our last 7 games. Looking at our midfield at the moment can you honestly say we’ve improved?

 

A shout-out to those posters who mentioned the pitch has been narrowed, GA is going for the squeeze and changing our mindset, wingers not required and Halliday/Wright to be relied upon for width
At least until the 70th minute when its all change to tempt us out of our tedium.

I think he should also be worried about his place Dave but he’s probably just ahead of Walker . I can see Walker being sold or a bench sitter for late in the game?

 

He's out. If we were signing a loaned as cover that would make a lot of sense.

 

Football isn't like any other business. In other businesses the players wouldn't have as much power as they do in football or other businesses wouldn't accept financial loss after loss like football does. The world is full of fancy job titles that a lot of the time are there to make the job sound more fancy and high profile. Alexander's job is manager of the 1st team so he should have full control over that, if he doesn't then he's a head coach. If we are saying that David Sharp should have full control because of his job title then he should also have full control over everyone who the academy signs as that. His job is more to oversee the whole football operations of the club from top to bottom and with the first team it's mainly a bit of scouting then looking after the contract side of things so that Alexander can get on with the football side.

 

He isn't cover for anyone at the minute.

Here's my thoughts though Kev. Does Sarcevic look like a decent enough improvement on Walker?

If it's a yes then fine, we're improving but if it's a no then why not look to upgrade elsewhere?

There is an option C of course but I can't see the being a huge difference in wages for either of them so I think that's a non starter.

 

If he gets in the team because he’s better than Pointon and brings more to the team than Pointon, it’s not a disgrace

But the freezing out of Walker and Pointon to date is a disgrace given the lack of energy and enthusiasm shown by the players selected so far

 

Walker seems not to be himself so far , maybe he feels he’s had his nose put out of joint with the strong competition for the midfield positions when we all know when fit last season he was first on the team sheet ?
