Thinking of buying a new car this year (VW T-Cross or Taigo) and JCT 600 sell the VW range.

I wondered what people’s experiences were of them as a car dealer? And are there any perks for being a City season ticket holder, especially with them being the main club sponsor?

I would shop around several dealerships. Sometimes going a little further can get you a significantly better price. Also consider going ‘out of area’, as the manufacturers can have regional variations in pricing. Get them to match or indeed improve on the best price. Ask for upgrades like paint protect. I would save the City supporter fact until the end. I currently have my car from a different dealership, as JCT stopped selling new vehicles of my brand. I bought 3 from them in the past.

Try to buy end of month, sales staff are more desperate to meet there targets

That might be a lie but sounds plausible :p

I’d go with what @WilsdenBantam@WilsdenBantam says.
    Shop around.
I got my current car from JCT on Sticker Lane but they don’t sell that brand any more.
They still service the brand but have lost the franchise.
My previous car I got from the main dealer in Stoke.
The logistics were a bit awkward but the saving for an identical brand new car was definitely worth the slight distance to travel.
I only went twice once I’d specced the car up.
Once to order it and once to pick it up.
Everything else was done by email or phone.

Once I’d got it,all the servicing was done by the main dealer in Bradford.

    Thank for everyone’s replies.

I’ve had experience of Vertu in recent months and whilst buying the car was trouble free, dealing with a warranty issue was anything but so that’s put me off them.

Will certainly shop around though, and I’m not averse to travelling out of the area if needed.

We have bought a number of cars off Bristol Street, part of Vertu, and never had a problem with the servicing or warrenty. My dad also has a Kia from their dealership in Bradford and again all good. I would say they have been better to deal with, and our first port of call rather than JCT

Lad in the gym works for them, used to work at JCT Volkswagen not that long ago. The stuff he told me about VW, particularly the vans and the build quality of the engines and running gear would make me think twice about getting one.

Building on @king karl@king karl ’s comments. Then you could factor this information in. End-of-quarter target discountsLots of dealerships have car sales targets to meet every quarter. That means a higher chance of discounts in the final weeks of March, June, September, and December to increase sales to meet those targets.

If you are not overly concerned then a ex ‘demonstrator’ could be a really good deal. https://usedcars.volkswagen.co.uk/en/vehicle_search/volkswagen/taigo-mark-1-2021/10-tsi-95ps-life-gjdtfah?POOLS_CSV=47-12532-217084&RADIUS_LEN_FLT=900&MILEAGE_MIL_INT_TO=3000&INITIAL_REGISTRATION_DTE_FROM=2024&INITIAL_REGISTRATION_DTE_TO=2025&search=passenger&MANUFACTURER_LST=VOLKSWAGEN&MODEL_TYPE_LST=VOLKSWAGEN_TAIGO_MARK_1_2021&ZIP_LOC=SE7 7AA&sort=PRICE_RETAIL_CUR_FLT:ASC

I bought a car from Vertu in Bradford, but wanted to take it to Vertu in Leeds for the warranty issue dealing with as it’s much closer to me.

That was a big problem, as the Leeds garage didn’t want to deal with it. They then messed me about and did everything possible to avoid resolving the issue which is what’s put me off :(

I’ve heard similar. The Amarok is apparently terrible. The T-Cross gets good reviews though and is quite appealing to us as a family various reasons.

Thank you, good tips to bear in mind!

Also thinking that as new regs are issued in March and September that end of Feb and end of Aug might be a good time to buy as dealers try and clear stock ready for the new registrations.

If I remember I'm sure he dealt with things like warranties. Mentioned Kia as a good company regarding after sales service.

Just to revisit this thread, I did buy a car but not a VW T-Cross. I went for a Volvo V40 Cross Country, and ended up getting it from Evans Halshaw. I was worried given the reviews of this company but they were very good to be fair to them.

I use to have an S60 which I got from Evans Halshaw, but it is a long time ago. I found them to be reasonable to deal with. Liked the Volvo, great build quality and the seats were very comfortable, but my old S60 consumed a lot of fuel, however things move on. Enjoy.

I’ve got the 1.5 T3 petrol. Didn’t want a diesel as I don’t want DPF issues. Perhaps the petrol is not the most economical but as with everything there’s a compromise :)

Sorry for the delay, just seen this. I’ve got a 2018 model, as far as I know built in Belgium - got to say after a few weeks ownership I love it. Best car I’ve had.
